Taking a road trip to Hershey with the family tomorrow and was wondering if there were any shops/stores that are off Rtes. 287 or 78 that sell Carton or Kane? Like, something close enough to the highway that it wouldn't completely piss off the wife. I'd appreciate any advice, thanks.

You'll only find growlers, no Kane packaged distro and the last Carton stuff that was distro'd is likely finishing up and getting tougher to find (SS Cream).

Funny thing about SS Cream (great friggin beer, btw) was that I could find that all over the city and Long Island, which is pretty odd for a carton beer. I'd probably be stopping on the way home so I wouldn't have a problem with getting a growler filled.

Check out Freebridge Wine & Spirits. It's not far off 78 at the PA state line across from Easton, PA. Carton cans are a maybe, but check out their Beermenus for updated tap list for growler fills

Beermenus is a good bet. North Plainfield Buy Rite has Head High or Overhead as a house tap for fills, and often has a Carton seasonal as well. Canals in Woodbridge may or may not be on your way but also is good for K+C fills regularly, at least 1 tap each.

I saw SS Cream all over NYC also but I think that was because of the Barrier Collab it was so widely available.
Off 78, your best bets for Carton Can retail are Gary's in Madison and (as mentioned) Super Buy Rite in N. Plainfield.
As @kthoag also mentioned, Canals almost always has both on tap at growler station and currently has both Boat & Head High. Good Luck!!!

The Wardell Pub at Freebridge Wine and Spirits? Is that the same place? Because if that list is 100 percent accurate.....holy shit, man! That might be worth the argument stopping there would probably get me into.

I'm guessing Canal's also has a large can/bottle selection as well?

Canal's gets everything. One of the best (if not the best) overall selections in the state.

I'm guessing they would have Carton in cans too? They only list their growler fills.

Yup I've heard great things about that place. And yes, Canals has tons of bottles and cans.

When it hits distro they get it but that is usually once a month and it doesn't last long so best to call before heading there if that is what you are looking for. They get Boat and 077 and had Ron's Steambock Haircut as of a few days ago.

Thanks for the advice guys, but I think Freebridge is the winner. If that beermenus page is to be believed, it's basically my moral imperative to stop there.

Freebridge's beermenus page is fairly accurate. And they do a thing on Thursdays with cheap growler fills with a pour to move out older draughts, so what's on is usually pretty fresh. And, if you're hitting on the way back, get off in PA at the Easton exit, follow into downtown and go across the Free Bridge and it's right there on the left. Then you can continue on from there, hit 22 and reconnect with 78 in NJ.

Yes Wardell Pub is Freebridge...BUT only go off the draft list. I think their bottle/can updates are never touched, however they sometimes post new bottles/cans on their Facebook page

See, this is what I'm worried about. They have 4 Carton cans listed and (which, would this be fresh, I don't see it at many other places on bm.com) The Shape of Hops to Come (amongst other things) that I would (obviously) love to get considering I can't get them in NY.

If you find Shape of Hops to Come, that's from last year. I don't think it's been released yet from Neshaminy.

If you have doubts about the Carton availability at Freebridge, I'd call.

The Shape of Hops to Come I was already skeptical about, plus they have Epitome and IDIPA cans listed, which I'm also iffy on. I'm willing to stop in and check it out anyway (hey honey, we're on vacation and it'll only take 20 minutes, right?) but considering I'm going to stop near Hershey too, this has to be a one-and-done on the way home. I got two kids with me.

I'd be shocked if Epitome or IDIPA are available anywhere. Only Carton cans out there in distro right now are probably the Steambock Haircut (maybe SDS), unless there was a Boat/077XX drop in the last few days. I think you will find growler fills are probably your only Kane/Carton option right now at most places.

When Carton cans are distributed, they Always get some. But they go fast.
