Public shout out to all of those at @SpoonwoodBrewingCo , @voodoobrewery , Helltown, Insurrection and Fat Heads, for the generous donation of their time and beers at the second annual South Hills Barnyard Beer Benefit last night. Thanks to Steve, Andrew, Ryan, Mark, Geoff, et al., everyone who poured--hope you found a few moments to enjoy yourself as well. They all left with empty kegs and the 400 patrons with big smiles. Their selflessness helped to raise money that will go toward restoring a historical landmark (and raising good beer awareness in the South Hills).

Everyone please enjoy the rest of their holiday weekend. Grab a beer from one of these guys above to ensure it's a good holiday. Cheers to them.

Yeah my point was just that I don't think it's worth it, not that the price was out of line.

Funny, but I would rather pay $14 for an Uncle Jacobs than $14 for a six pack of 120.

Is the meetup/share still happening in the south hills this weekend?

Are you talking about the proposed share at Spoonwood that has been kicked around here for a while? I don't think that anything came about of this. People mentioned that this weekend was a possible date for a share, but I'm pretty sure that no one really contacted Spoonwood for an official "lets do this".

This thread has just about gone the way of the dodo. I remember when it used to get 10+ pages a day.

I did. Super happy about it as I couldn't justify a whole allotment at the time.

    The happenstance MBP acquisition
    or
Swinging by Voodoo whenever you want to fill growlers

That's a good idea. I have Voodoo, Roundabout and Vintage Estate marked to show first on my Facebook timeline. Has worked very well for me.

Any notable beer releases or events in Pittsburgh this weekend? I"ll be visiting friends in Lawrenceville. We normally stop at Roundabout.

I had them, but I wouldn't have been able to leave work regarless.

The surprise release tells me that they have more bottles, so that is the good news. I'd love to get my hands on another bottle. Easily my favorite beer of all time.

Thanks to all for the advice. I got in before most of my crew, so I went down to Carson Street Deli, which allowed me to see the Southside, and I loved the vibe there. We also made it out to Church Brew Works--definitely a unique experience. And our Uber driver on the way back was this really cool guy with a kickin Yinzer accent, so that was some local color.

My three favorite local beers that I managed to try over the week were Hop Frenzy by Helltown, Rye Rebellion by Full Pint, and Bonehead Red by Fat Head (which I know isn't Pittsburgh, but it certainly isn't anything I am getting in North Carolina).

Basically, a really fun and beautiful city. I'm glad I got the chance to check it out.

So does the new law that allows wine to be shipped into PA mean that beer can also be shipped in?

As far as I can see Beer has no changes in this law other than convince store can get cafe licenses like Giant Eagle has. As I see more information I may amend this.

Dined at Cure Friday evening and enjoyed Draai Laag's Relic and 2013 Big Black Voodoo Daddy. I love that they always have a great limited selection of local beers to pair with their food. Great experience
