Great last day in NoCal. Visited beautiful Point Reyes and had some delicious Fieldwork beers with @BartS. Always fun to meet up with another BIFer.
Great handshake meetup @jonbonfondle and many thanks for the beers you hauled from home! Three Wants and that should have been, thank you again!
One of each and a glass would be awesome. I'm sure there's something from texas you'd want to try and we can work something out.
Woah I wondered why it's been quiet here, I'm just a dummy and forgot to check! I got some catching up to do! I'll go with Anchor Brewing and 2004. Thanks for the chance @BartS!!
Amateur hour compared to @Greeny87, but I'm pretty happy with this NoCal haul. Thanks again @BartS for hooking me up with these four! It was great meeting you!
Come visit Minneapolis and I'll open all of them with you. I've got the horizontal going in my cellar, need to reason to drink them.
Round 4 Minimum - 144 oz. Rating - 85 or higher unless a want (always send a box you'd be happy to receive) Shipping window - July 1 through August 1-ish (trying to keep open mind with summer vacations and such) Special rule - wrap a minimum of 2 bottles so that target can do a blind tasting. Target should post a VBS/VCS of wrapped beer while trying to guess said beer. Ideally the tastings would be done within 30 days of delivery. There are lots of ways to conceal bottles/caps/cans but extra advice can always be shared and provided. Send me a BM with deets within next couple of weeks. Name/address/untppd/likes/dislikes/shirt size/swag preference/shipping restrictions.
This LIF is wrapped up and @SRBush1974 is the winner (Anchor and the closest year of 1996), congrats! Sending you a message shortly. Anchor was the first answer, which teaches me a lesson to avoid any public knowledge LIF questions, even if they seem obscure at first. Damn you, beer trivia buffs! The Beer Hunter is a great show aired in 1990, just six episodes, very much recommended. Also great was the Beer Hunter documentary from 2013, released few years after M. Jackson's death. 1990 was the second answer (randomly the same year as the Beer Hunter airing), for a very much unsupervised and a very much underage craft drinking experience on a trip to Belgium. Grocery shop purchased, "guys, this one is 10% ABV, put back the 8% ones" type of a trip. For the next two decades, St. Bernardus monk label was my only recollection of the actual brews. After having them more recently, there was a lot more appreciation for the taste and a lot less desire to get buzzed. Thank you all for participating in my first LIF.
Box landed from @beluga92 !!! Thank you so much! all new ticks, and all wants! After having missed these (or not been able to score any of this on a recent trip to beantown, this gentleman and scholar (literally) hooked it up... Austin St - Saison Hoppu Trillium - Heavy Mettle Trillium - Upper Case Trillium - Double Dry Hopped Melcher St Foundation - Epiphany (presumably) ....aptly labeled "Dat Piff" heheh Austin St - Patina siiiiiiiiiiick. i look forward to volleying boxes, my friend -- i got next!
congrats @SRBush1974 on winning the previous LIF. Guess that means it's time for the third LIF this week! It will be another box from Northern California. I want to do this LIF as a way to introduce myself to the Newbie BIF crew, so any of you are welcome to enter. OK so here are the questions: 1. How many US cities have I lived in for more than 1 year? Tiebreaker: Name one city and my favorite brewery in that city or its suburbs. Except, no naming my current city, San Francisco, or my nearby brewery of choice, Russian River! This LIF will close on Monday evening. The winner will receive 2 Pliny's plus some other NorCal beers, unless (gasp!) you don't like Plinys. I'm happy to drink them all! (and find you something else )
Just lurkin' but had to say Sin Mint is *the* shit. I'm not even a huge mint fan but that brew blew me away. Enjoy! Awesome boxes flying around here... Cheers!
