To me in its most general sense, widely available means that anyone in the contiguous US can get it without too much difficulty. You might have to cross into another state to get it, but you don't have to go far. So for me, widely distributed breweries would include examples like: Sierra Nevada, Oskar Blues, Stone, Goose Island, Abita, Rogue, Ommegang, etc.

Side note, this is a fun thing to play around with to see where beers are distributed: http://www.seekabrew.com/distro/index.html

More to OP's point, when people on here ask for recommendations, I will generally look at where their location says they are and then go from there. No sense recommending a Revolution or Pipeworks beer if the person is in Arizona.

If it's not within a 75 mile drive it's dead to me.

Find it funny that SC is considered "limited distribution" when we actually get a decent quantity of their rare beers (KBS, etc.)

SN i believe all 50. Founders pushing it close not sure. Anchor not sure for example its in my state but i rarely find it. Its a bit tricky depending on personal location i live in NJ the most densely populated state in the US but i live far southin the Pinelands (state forest area) so i dont see a lot that others do

Unless those states are in the East and you live in the West.

As far as the poll, I voted "Other": It's widely available if, and only if, I can get it where I live. :stuck_out_tongue:

Florida is the 3rd most populated state after California and Texas and we still don't get Epic, Firestone Walker, New Holland, Odell, Pipeworks, Dechutes and many others. I voted other

For me its the minimum vote allowed (5 states). If I can find the same beer within 4 states surrounding mine, then its widely available.

edit: Hahah, I'm the one and only vote.. way to be an outlier.

You're not missing out on Epic.

Widely distributed is anything distributed where I am. Anything we don't get in NY NJ has a very limited distribution.
