Got a few of these the other day. Has anyone had any experience with agings these? Just had one, and thought it was a little hot but definitely tasty.

You might start by reading reviews and realize that hundreds, maybe even thousands of people lay this beer down for up to a decade or more. You are after all on a beer review site.

I have read many reviews about this but thought about starting a discussion with people that have had experience with it. After all this is the 'Cellaring/Aging Beer' Forum section on a beer review site.

Hence reading the reviews. Plus, you could do a search, as this beer has been discussed on this very section before. Amazing what the internet will do for you if you use it.

Sounds like that's the point of this question. Using the Internet and the forum...
Maybe there are new people here with new thoughts and opinions on this.
    Worth starting a new thread.

Wow, sounds like @RDMII needs some Midol. Sorry OP, but I haven't tried that one yet. If you got a couple though why not try one now and sit on one? GL, hope you get a decent response from someone who has experience aging that one.

In my experience it's a bit of waste to drink this with less than 2 years on it. Never had one over 4 though because I get antsy.

It makes absolutely no sense to get bent out of shape about people using a discussion forum to discuss beer. Plenty of other conversations you can join if this one is old hat for you.

I can see where you are coming from. The one I drank to get a feel for it being fresh was I shouldn't of done this haha.

I had this same experience. I bought one and it was way too boozy and hot. I am currently aging two bottles. I was planning on cracking one after 2 years and then holding onto the other for as long as I could manage.

In my experience it drinks well after a year. Well enough that I'm waiting two years for my next bottle. I think it'll be a nice beer long-term, but I haven't gotten that far.

I have two sitting right now. I am going to do a year and the second one two years.

Drank an 08 last year it was awesome. I have one more 08 left plus I have some 15 that I want to sit because the 08 was so good. Although I might drink that with the last 08 to compare with the 15 later this year.

I learned my lesson with Avery's super-booze beers last week when I cracked one of my 4 2016 Uncle Jacob's Stouts. Won't make that mistake again for at least another couple years (except maybe for that Callipygian calling my name...). I also decided to wait on my one and only Tweak - coffee forwardness be damned - I'm still giving it at least a year!

Yeah I learned the hard way with The Samaels. It was blazing hot with booze. Definitely giving my other bottle some time before trying it.

I love this beer, and had a year old (May '15) bottle last night - excellent, super sweet and smooth. I think I'd have a hard time waiting more than a year on the two bottles I have from this March. I can't say it doesn't get even better, but it's fantastic for me at a year.

A little off subject but still in the realm of Avery's uber-ABV beers, Callipygian is excellent right out of the gate. A bit hot, but nothing like fresh Samael or Uncle Jacob's. Deceivingly drinkable to the point where one needs to be careful and go very slow or share the bottle!

I've had it fresh which is a bit too boozy.

I have a 2007 bottle I'm sitting on, to wait for the 10 year mark next year.
