I'm talking more about all the other crazy flavors Voodoo Doughnut makes, not just the Maple Bacon one.

Yeah let me clarify, the concept seems pretty close.
    The taste is astronomically better.

Ill agree that most of their stuff is pretty lackluster but they have a few that are still excellent. Hazelnut Nectar and Shakespear Stout are both in the upper tier of their styles IMO and Chocolate Stout is very, very good.

i agree with that i do like the chocolate stout but that is the top of the line for them which says something about them...

Exactly. With three great beers ink how anyone can call them a terrible brewery. Even if they have their share of lackluster beers and some garbage like the subject of this thread...

Don't forget, BBC made more than one batch of Infinium...so why not more pink-bottled ashtray beer?

I still can not comprehend how this beer named after a donut was not sweet. I think they were onto something and totally whiffed. Maybe they realize that.. Sadly, I am in the camp of fool me once..... Novelty to try at a beer tasting...

I happen to be one of the people who didn't hate Infinium, but I only bought from the first batch, I wasn't buying any more after that. Fool me once issue again at the price that Infinium was/is. Voodoo Doughnut, on the other hand, was completely vile to me but my friend and his girlfriend loved it so much so that they bought like 4 I think. I guess the point here is that there's almost always going to be some people that will buy/like a given beer. And if enough people do buy it, or if the brewery has the money to sink into a revamp of a beer that didn't sell that well, then the brewery can re-release that beer. Might not make much sense from a financial stand point but whatever.

And of course there's the obvious fact that this thread (and thus discussion of this beer, and Rogue) has maintained its position near the top of this forum all day long. Any publicity is good publicity—especially when it's free.

A problem may be in convincing the stores to give a revamped version a try. Wasn't there some sort of minimum order on this one, too? When it came out there were a lot of big displays. A shop by me got in three cases- which is a lot for a bottle at that price point for a store this size- and they were lucky to sell off around two of them. The rest of the bottles are still sitting around, and probably will be for a while. I doubt the markup is worth taking such a big risk again for a lot of shops.

I just recently bought Hazelnut Nectar and Shakespeare Stout because of BA. Double Chocolate isnt bad, as is Imperial Pilsner.

It's probably because of the maple.

And Brutal Bitter. The rest can sit on the shelves if they were even available here. Oh and I drank a bottle the OP mentioned; never again.

I was in Northern Washington about a month ago and came across several cases sitting on a floor at a grocery store.

I for one will NOT be buying that. The first edition was bad enough.
