I don't think a milk stout will be nearly as popular as the hoppy beers you mentioned.

Good point. But then again the RVA craft folks are a wild and insane bunch when it comes to their beers. The trade offers going on over in the RVA trade groups just for the Anniversary glassware was taken to new limits.

I will be stopping in at The Veil on 6/18 around 8PM on the way back from a NE beercation.

How much trade activity has there been around The Veil cans? I'm planning to bring plenty of fresh Heady, SoS, plus take requests in advance for Trillium, Hill Farmstead, and Night Shift. Am I likely to find someone willing to part with a few of each of the cans from the previous weeks?

Looking forward to trying some things on draft at a minimum!

Pretty certain you can easily find someone to trade cans for if you are gonna be coming through with especially the Trillium, HF and Night Shift. Maybe the Heady & SoS too but I think a lot of the frequent traders in RVA can already get that easy enough when they want it. I have seen lots of Treehouse trade posts. All locals I have seen post on group pages getting it have been going 1:1 for cans. if you are on fb then check out the "RVA Tastes & Trades" group. Should have no problem getting a bit almost immediately. if you do a ISO/FT. Just be clear that you are from out of town but will be in RVA on the 18th late evening.

Especially with the "per day" part. You know if it makes it to day 2 plenty of folks will be back for a second 4 pack.

What are the odds that cans will be left saturday? If not anyone looking to trade anything? I'll be there saturday mid to late afternoon. I'll have some crowlers from Aslin to trade.

^^That would be an accurate guess. But keep an eye out on their social media. Veil didn't have them last week but maybe they will do Crowlers Sat. Hit up "RVA Tastes & Trades" on fb if you are may want to throw out an IP trade. Probably get some bites.

Given that they completely ran out of beer a few weeks ago, I wouldn't expect crowlers again until they up production or reduce what gets canned

Still think they should have made it 1pp. One of these weeks they will take my advice!

I think 2/pp is a fine limit. I live in Alexandria and will probably only be able to make it down for a can release once every few months, it will be nice to be able to bring back more than 2-3 4-packs, especially since I will probably have to leave work early or go out of my way to make it. I'm sure there are a lot of people like this too.

Valid point. I think Veil covered anyone who may be maxing out just for a chance to get multiple glassed by only including 8 "coins." Assuming they spread them out well (figuring 10-11 cases per pallet layer and no more than 1 coin per layer) that should almost eliminate any one person getting more than 1 coin. Obviously the majority will get their 2 4pks anyway whether Veil included the coins as a bonus or not.

I can't even leave work in time these days, and I work less than 3 miles away. I thought Hardywood Saturday crowds were nuts. This is some next level stuff. At least the Answer IPAs are often available.

Once The Answer completes their expansion (not even sure of that timeframe) and when they start canning, Veil may have some competition. Luckily for HW, Veil does not do releases on Sat but when the sought after HW releases do come around it will be fun to see how the crowds for Veil Crowlers and HW bottles turn out.

I won't be able to get there until like 5 next week - I'd hate to stand in line for 2 hours and get shut out.

Really hoping the Veil increasing production helps with this too. It would be nice if there were like 2 can release days or 2x as much available. I want to try these because I've been incredibly pleased with what I've had from The Answer, was just there this weekend. Would be nice to find out The Veil isn't that much better than Than Answer but I get a feeling the folks in RVA know what they have with The Answer so if they are hyping The Veil there's a good reason.

From comments I have seen people post quite often on just about every release Veil has had if you show up roughly around 4:30 or slightly after you should have no problem getting allocation. It also has appeared the line had died down pretty dramatically by that point to where you are not standing in line for an hour. 15-20 minute is what I have seen a lot of for those showing up after opening. Yesterday was the exception to this. Also looked like they allowed lining up through the parking lot and that was nice since you could grab a draft and wait with it while you are standing in that area. I still do not understand why people are showing up earlier and earlier each week and waiting 1-2 hours before the doors even open when, if they read the group pages, others consistently show up shortly after opening and have no problem getting all of their allocation. Showing up at 5 may be close to missing something but I doubt you would leave completely empty handed.

That's great about being able to have a beer in line - I love that. I guess I'll try to get there a bit before 5. Having never been I have no clue where to park or anything so probably need to account for that. But thanks for this - your input has been a huge help in trying to plan a visit there.
