Frankfort is one of my favorite places to visit every year, and last year I finally was able to sit down at Stormcloud and enjoy the pub after two years of only getting growler gills and going. And although they specialize in Belgian inspired ales, their Goodnight, Porter and Rainmaker IPA were delicious.

This year they're throwing a 3rd Birthday Bash. Details :

And if you are in the area or can be, show these guys some love. Had a great time there; the staff was friendly, the food was good, and it's kid friendly if you have the family with you. Plus, the pub is attractive and you can't beat drinking great ales on Lake Michigan.

I definitely won't make the party, but I'm hoping to visit there in August. I've heard nothing but good things and I liked the one beer I had of theirs at 7 Monks last year. It's just a bit far from the area I'll be in (Suttons Bay), but I'm thinking of making the drive this year. Just need to justify it to the wife & kids. If anyone knows of parks or other kid-friendly things to do nearby, let me know!

Stormcloud is about a block off the beach in Frankfort, Michigan. Lots of room for kids to play in the sand or get their feet wet in Lake Michigan and there is a nice little park just down the street on the city's harbor as well.

I second the park and playground , it's across the street and a couple blocks from the pub. My kids and nieces had a blast, it's huge. There's an ice cream shop closer to the Lake that we always stop in, too.

I'm pretty sure my 5 year old might be able to spend just as long in an ice cream shop as I could at Stormcloud, so this is VERY useful information.

    Thanks to @DanGeo as well.

I'll be heading up to Frankfort for the weekend tomorrow, so I'll miss the anniversary party. Def love to go to Stormcloud though and I'll be hitting them up again while I'm there.

Really wish I could go as I love all things stormcloud. However, the wife has to work and I have a one year old to watch. Whoever is going have a pint for me in spirit. I'll hopefully get up there sometime late this summer or early fall

If you are somebody that wants do go for the Anniversary party but have a wife and possibly kids that you must bring along, don't be worried. Frankfort is a great place for both sexes and kids as well. Their beach is spectacular, the pier and lighthouse are great, the town will provide the "female shopping" experience and the town is very kid friendly with the nice play areas, ice cream, etc.

I've been to all Lake Michigan beach towns from Saugatuck to the UP and this is one of my favorites - I personally feel is the northern most Lake Michigan town that still feels local (does not have that "upper class" feel) before the Wilderness State Park area.

All this to say that whether you're alone, with a spouse, or with children this location will provide a good experience for all - and the brewery, albeit specializing in Belgian's, is a great place as well!!!!

It's not walkable from Stormcloud (10-15 min drive), but the best ice cream in the Frankfort area can be found at the Hill Top Soda shop. I echo the comments others have made about the beach and park; my kids (now 3 and 8) have enjoyed every visit.

That is great a great place to stop! We rented a house at Crystal Mountain and they gave us some coupons for a couple free pints. We stopped there in Benzonia on the way to Frankfort, I almost forgot about it. It really is on a Hilltop, in a little strip mall set back off the road. If you're not looking for it, you'll miss it.
