Definitely agree with this to some extent, especially with mosaics. I will drink a number of IPA's 1-2 months out and be satisfied, but flavors definitely do diminish. Mosaics are awesome if enjoyed near bottling/canning, but appear to lose a fair amount of their distinct flavors a few weeks out. That doesn't mean they still aren't enjoyable, just not as bold as intended. When it comes down to it, enjoying your tasty beverage as fresh as possible is gonna give you the best bang for your buck, but nothing wrong with enjoying it later because obviously location, distributors, etc. factor into obtaining a brew soon after bottling.

Since the freshness of hoppy beers is often a point of contention on this website, I wanted to mention the bottling date so people can make their own judgment. I don't know what hops are in Six Rights or what it tasted like fresh off the line, but I thought it was good when I cracked it last night. It seemed to have a hop profile similar to Torpedo maybe. I will also admit that I typically don't go for bottled IPAs older than 1-2 months if I can help it.

    Cheers

Fast forward to 4:25 in this video for John Kimmich's opinion on when Heady is at it's best.

Thanks for posting. To me, Kimmich confirms that beer, and hoppy beer in particular, changes a whole heckuva lot in two months.

For anyone still looking for DDH Sue in the south metro, Viking liquor barrel in Prior Lake had about 5 or so on the shelf.

We should, we see all of their other beers minus state specific releases (non minnesotan that is) which trillionaire is not

That's what I figured, but I remember reading somewhere that trillionaire won't be full distro, but I figure the fact that we've had a bunch of MN specific releases would mean we'll probably see it.

I've got a can of Heady that I'm gonna drink at 10 weeks chilling in the fridge right now. Let's see if this "Kimmich" fellow knows what he's talking about.

In my thoughts anything that requires a river crossing isn't worth the drive.

I should have said "downtown or Northwest suburbs" - I live in Plymouth and we are sadly lacking on good stores! I wish I lived closer to Blue Max...

You know it. I despise going over to St. Paul. I can't get that smell off for days. Just feel dirty when I hit a bridge.
Plus, you might as well be in Wisconsin by then and that's just awful.

Saint Paul doesn't want you anyways. Enjoy your 612Brew and metered parking.

Not sure about that specific beer, but check with Princeton's or Vinifera. Both are excellent shops in Plymouth/MG area. Also, I've have decent luck with more than a few of the chain places from time to time (Haskells, MGMs, grocery stores etc). Best bet is to call around!
