You'll just have to buy a case or two of BL's year round beers in order to be allowed to buy a bottle of FO. At least that's how some stores were doing it last year after the hype got out of control. And no, that was not a BL requirement, but a store owner requirement...

A case or two?!? Like 12-24 bombers? I saw stores requiring a few other bottles, not cases.

An exaggeration, but wanted to forwarn those hoping to get bottles at a store that it won't be an, "Oh, XXX store has some, I can afford to drop another $25ish on a bottle." Instead it may be more like, "What?! I have to buy 5/6/12 additional bottles just to get that on I really want?!"

or it'll also be a truck chasing thing where stores will have lines already geared up even before the truck gets there

Sounds like the distributer using FO to push cases of BL shelfies on stores.

Even Mr. K's has had to do it at some point. I forget off hand, but pretty sure Abraxas was one example.

Hmmmm ... Definitely NOT with FO ... Wonder if Perennial's distributor called the shots / forced his hand on that assuming you are remembering correctly about Abraxas hostage.

he did it with BCBS too, but i know goose island has stipulations on having to sell a certain amount to get bcbs which is stupid

But at least with BCBS he's selling it for $9.99 and the additional sixer you must purchase is only $5.99. Some places were charging that much for the BCBS bottle. I think it's a win-win. The store gets allocated more and it's available more conveniently than planning your Black Friday around it.

If I remember correctly, Mr. K's already had a line that far exceeded the allocation they were getting even before the truck got there. Soooooo.. they literally couldn't pull that shit.

Huh? I was referring to the fact/shit that Mr. K's did NOT make you buy other beers to get FO as this is what the poster was warning us peeps. Now indeed you had to loiter around his store like a loser for hours in hopes the BL truck showed up, but it was never the case where Mr. K's held FO hostage by making you buy other beers for a shot at a single FO.

If you guys are talking about FO, I was there when the case showed up. I didn't know it was coming, just happened to be picking up at the Bruery and stopped in.

There was probably 5-6 of us there standing around that bought bottles and bounced, I assume the other 6 were gone quickly.

Leads me to believe not a ton of people knew it was showing up.

Edit: I suppose there could have been another delivery with a big line though...

I won't name stores, but if you want to see what I was referring to, check out various IG accounts from July of last year.

Mr. K's was NOT one of those stores. Their only posting was that there was a line of people waiting for FO before they even got it, so it sold out immediately. I will also point out that they had an FO & DSN raffle for the opportunity to buy bottles in November. The only "cost" was to show up at the store each day to grab an entry ticket (no purchase necessary).

Mr. K's is a great store and I always recommend it to people looking in the area. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's right next to the Bruery so as soon as a limited release is posted on IG all the people at the Bruery run over and grab them before I can get there.

This is, in essence, what happened. But technically there were 12 bottles and 5-6 people there when they got them. I can only assume they were all gone within 10 minutes of me leaving.

There was a lot of reports of people just setting up at Bottle Logic and then following the delivery truck where ever it went since they do self distribute. I know a Total Wines and More had the line exceeding allotment situation.

I lucked out when I stopped by my local TW and picked up FO right after it got delivered. There was at least 1 guy waiting 3 hours inside the store waiting for it. But also BL didn't help things by announcing which stores and on what days they were getting their FO delivery.
