It's not a stout, so the hype will never be justified.

just so you know, you can say things like "period" and "comma", and voice to text will recognize it and insert the appropriate punctuation.

The youngish looking person in line in front of me did indeed get asked to show his ID when he attempted to buy a bottle. He provided it, all seemed ok, and they happily sold him a bottle.

My statement wasn't about JK per se....obviously people are buying their beers, so they are satisfying customer needs by that very fact. It doesn't change the fact, for any business, that if customers don't buy the product because what is being produced is unsatisfactory, then the company will not sustain itself (unless they have an alternate source of capital to keep pouring into the business). How many times are you going to eat at a restaurant if the food sucks? If enough people feel the same way, the restaurant will close. Same thing with a brewery. I didn't imply that JK was in this situation, obviously there's a market for the beers they have produced to date, whether I liked them or not.

Usually they ID everyone regardless...even my grandmother!:stuck_out_tongue: . I thought it was unusual they didn't this time.

@jamescain i had a hat on so they couldn't see my gray hair. Lol

Then your taste buds need some work! Nocturn is an outstanding beer. Especially with about 6-8 months on it. Freaking Jam bomb in the best way.

Pretty much what I figured. Seems like the business model/philosophy is working fairly well in spite of your unreasonable refusal to cater to each individual customer's specific needs.

Can I be your Arkansas distributor?

You poor bastard. Still better than El Paso I guess. And you might be closer to Austin.

OP was correct, rosemary is one of the botanicals in the Austin Reserve Gin and quite pronounced. I'm not quite ready to pop open my Meta Ginturn tasting, to include the French Oak Barrel gin.

Base nocturn is fantastic. There are no vinegar notes. I think I recall JK saying they made more last year because they really like it. I have to agree. I've had countless bottles and pours of almost everything they have made. For me, nocturn is just as good as atrial. I do trade some to friends out of state but, I drink most of what I get because it is really that good

This. I preferred last year's Nocturn to Atrial in all honesty. Never had any acetic notes from it either.

I think it really depends on if you like raspberries or blackberries more. I personally am a huge fan of O&P, but I really like strawberries.

I think JK does a really good job of preventing acetic acid in their beers, I'm really sensitive to it and despise it and I haven't had a problem with their beers. Although I will say that I opened an older AR the other day and it was pretty sharply sour on the finish (I will also concede it was not stored at cellar temps).

The batch 2 nocturnal I had was a little vinegary. Batch 3 didn't seem to have that flavor profile going on for it. But that bottle could have been stored poorly or just bottle variance. I also think most of the fruits are great 8months to a year in and after that some of them fade. Atrial and mvb have been the exception to that for me

Isn't it illegal for breweries to ship beer to customers?

    B. I'm not going to comment publicly on how I treat/resolve issues for customers who feel they have been wronged.

    EDIT: redacted

I know it's gotta be hard enough to make good beer without constant criticism of your business model.
