I recently began my fall beer binge, and in the fly grabbed a six-pack of Pumple Drukmin. I have never heard of this or Cisco Breweries, but wow! This is a great pumpkin ale. It tastes like a mix between a Belgian Pale Ale and Pumpkin Ale. I was curious to know of any other less common pumpkin ales out there such as this. Also, are any other of Cisco's brews worth a try?

Glad to see another pumpkin ale that isn't an amber ale base...

I cannot for the life of me figure out why 95% of pumpkin beers have almost the same exact base beer that almost never holds up to the amount of spice in the beer. I love pumpkin and pumpkin spices but don't like most pumpkin beers for that reason. Bring on the pumpkin stouts, AWAs, and saisons!

I agree. I like some of the amber/brown based pumpkins, but they do seem to flood the style. This is a really interesting take on a pumpkin. A bit lighter, still some spice, but a nice full pumpkin flavor. I swear I can taste some phenol and funkiness as well (this could all be in my head). I can't wait for it to cool down and knock back a few more interesting pumpkin beers.

Plan on having my first tonight! I did have a sample of this year's a few days ago -- awesome vanilla presence that compliments the pumpkin, yam and spices well.

I love DFH Punkin and the Pumpking, but my absolute favorite so far is Horseheads Pumpkin. It's liquid happiness to me in the Fall.

If you had to choose one, and only one pumpkin beer, what would it be and why!?

Schlafly Pumpkin because the pumpkin and spice level is pretty much perfect for my liking.

I'm a fan of the Rumpkin. Great pumpkin beer that's not a cinnamon bomb.

    Selins grove

    Why?
    1. They do not release it before October
    2. Its on nitro
    3. It has the perfect balance of a solid base beer, pumpkin flavor and subtle spicing.
    4. Its the closest thing you will ever have to a pumpkin beer smoothie/milkshake without milk or ice cream added to it.

Distant runners up worth mentioning would be:
Treat, Schlafly, Elysian Great Pumpkin, Rumpkin, Pumking (in that order.)

    Rumpkin. So very much Rumpkin.

Second place would go to Upslope's Pumpkin. The worst I've ever had was Pumking, which found its way to the drain pretty quickly.

I have to agree with you on the Pumking but luckily for me my wife liked it so I didn't have to drain pour either of the bottles I had.

I would recommend you try Pumpkin Ale from Smuttynose or Pie Eyed Pumpkin Ale from Watch City. All local, all delicious!
