2016 New Glarus releases

Anyone around this morning? How's the line looking?

I've got a guess on the new NG pull dates after looking at a few bottles and cans.

One date upthread was J296 for Bubbler and I saw Moon Man cans today with K056.

First letter = Month of Year (A=Jan, B=Feb, etc)
Second two numbers = day of month
Last number = last digit of year

I figure they are using the letter at the beginning as a way to indicate to retailers it's a pull date instead of the old julian bottling dates. And based on the Bubbler and Moon Man dates above I'm guessing they have a 5 month shelf life. Work your way back and you get the packaging date now. I think I saw some Scream at the Beer Depot with a J date too so these may have a 5 month shelf life too. Until we get an official word this theory seems reasonable to me anyway.

Anyone know if there's still any R&D left after the last 2 days? Just called out there but no one answered.

 

i would expect so. didnt see anything about selling out day 1 or 2. moon man & spotted cow cans were also available at depot on saturday.

 

R&D is all sold out. Just made an empty trip. Kind of shocking they only had enough for the 2 days.

 

I'm sure it's not sold out but simply held back. I suppose it is possible they bottled less for this release though

 

I'd say it's almost assuredly being held back. Can't speak to how Saturday went since I came and got my bottles early then left, but Friday I was there a good chunk of the afternoon and I don't think they ever sold thru.

 

Being held back for sales in the general store later (but just not today)? Like the ones that they just recently put out a year after they were released? I thought the ones that lasted past the 3 days of the release last year were in the general store right away.

 

I was at NG the week before R&D Vintage 2015 release and at the general store they had R&D Vintage 2014 just sitting there with a limit of 4 per person.

 

No, that was R&D Wild Bitter, def not Vintage'14.

 

Vintage 14 was in the depot the week before the 15 dropped. There didn't seem to be a lot of chatter on here about it though.

 

Damn, I owe both of you guys an apology then, sorry @eifster82 thats crazy, I just wish I would have known! That was my fav of the R&D's last year. Cheers guys.

 

Deb told me that the allotment sold out on Friday

 

I was kind of surprised to see it there. That was my first time at NG and remember thinking, 'do they always have a stack of R&D stuff sitting around??' Apparently not. I went the following weekend to pick up Vintage '15 and I went over to the beer store to just check out if there were any left... nope. All the Vintage '14 were gone.

 

Good thing each month of the year starts with a different letter!

Oh, wait....

 

Not first letter of the month but rather A-L sequentially.
