Actually will be driving from NW suburbs to Appleton next week on sunday afternoon/evening. Will be taking I-43 to Rt 45 to Rt 41. I'm looking for shops either in the Appleton area or in or north of Milwaukee. I've seen Ridgeview in Green Bay is popular so will try to check it out if I have the spare time. Any other suggestions or places to shop? Will they be open on a sunday?

Oops I thought I was in the Great Lakes forum....please move there if possible, mods.....

I'm in Appleton occasionally for work. Flanagan's is just o.k. If you can make the time for Ridgeview, it's definitely worth it.

Also, if you have time to hit a bar, Bazil's in downtown Appleton is awesome.

Thanks for the tips so far. Does anyone know the hours for Ridgeview on a Sunday? Im probably leaving my house around 4PM and would be in Appleton/Green Bay area around 8 (I think). Also, how far is it from Appleton to Ridgeview? My guess is 30 min?

OP- you might have better luck hitting up shops on your way back...Sunday, late afternoon, a lot of places will be closed. With that being said, there is half a dozen places in Milwaukee worth stopping at, all within 5 minutes or so of the freeway. Also, you will pass by 3 or 4 Woodman's on your way up, they are all 2-5 minutes off the freeway. And, if you want to pay an extra $1-$2/ 4 or 6 pk, there is always Mars Cheese Castle down in Kenosha.

My hotel is pretty close to the Woodmans in Appleton, is going the extra 30 miles to Ridgeview that much more worth it? As far as Milwaukee goes, I will probably be taking 43 to 894 on the way up and the same thing on the return so will be missing most of the city. Is there anything exciting available in WI right now that I can't get in IL? I plan on getting whatever New Glarus is available already.

Just make sure you keep driving north once you get to appleton to green bay. I hear that i have a nice beer collection I need help drinking. BONUS: Ridgeview isnt far from me. They have the BB Dopplebock from Hinterland and Oude Tart, tart of darkness, and some other nice shelf beers. hopefully some enigma too by sat....

Im not sure how much free time I will have when I come up there but if you want to try to hookup for a beer or two, I can try to accomodate that into my schedule. Is there anything from IL that would interest you?

Bring anything you think is interesting from your cellar. Ever had 2006 KBS (batch 1)?

Woodmans in Appleton is not that nice. If you are not going to Green Bay and staying in Appleton, go to Flannagans. The Woodmans stores in the southern part of the state have a much better selection.

So it looks like I should try to stop at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee. That doesn't look to be too far off of my path (I-894). Unfortunately, it looks like they close at 2 on Sundays so I'll have to hit it on the way home.

The only problem is I have no idea if I'll have any free time (or how much).

Hehe....hey boss....Im not feeling so well. I think once I get up there I will have a better feel for what my days will look like. There is a chance I am going up there the following week too. Supposedly I am going to be working 10-12 hour days.
