So how does the importer play a role then? Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm no guru on beer law.

Isn't Clown Shoes contract brewed? Their BA offerings are very reasonably priced, and pretty damn good.

All of Evil Twin's beer that is available stateside is not exclusively brewed in the U.S. Aun Mas Cafe Jesus and Aun Mas A Jesus are two examples brewed in Spain and imported. And as far as price goes, cheaper options abound, if you don't want it don't buy it. Also, don't know if anyone has picked up a 16 oz can single of Even More Jesus yet but even with a good mark up they are only $3.99 a can! For a 95+ rated imperial Stout. The game is changing and Jeppe is changing with it.

Wow. Here in Kentucky the Even More Jesus can is 9.99 a can. That mark up are outrageous personally. I think everyone of the beers I have had by them is marginal at best.

Their beer goes through an importer then to a distributor no matter where it was brewed. Perfect example is Off Color's alfalfa king and space tiger. $12.99 in their home market, $21.99++ elsewhere and they use 12% before going to a distributor, just like Evil Twin.

Gotta hand it to evil twin on the jesus/biscotti break can pricing and liquid double fudge 22s, those are so unusually well priced im still doing double takes when I see em on a shelf. Those shouldn't be more than 15 per 4pk or even $5 per can at the worst, anything else is gouging.

As a consumer, it doesn't matter to me why a beer is overpriced, it just is. I agree though, I was really excited to see the cheaper cans, hopefully they're make their way to my neighborhood soon.

This does look interesting. Will have to put Evil Twin Breweries on my radar and see if I can stumble onto a few of their offerings.

If thats the case that means the beer was just put in the barrels a a few weeks ago. So probably 6-12 months from now

Even More Jesus Cans were $7-$7.49/16oz can at the most reasonably priced stores in Metro Detroit, far from a great value, but it is alot cheaper than the bomber alternative of $17.99/22oz. I'll stick with Founders Imperial Stout at $2.50-$3/12oz bottle any day though =D

Sounds like a rip off. Even More Jesus 4pks and Imperial Biscotti Break 4pks were $13.99 retail here in Ohio. Or $3.49 a can.

In the case of Evil Twin, they use an importer because they don't have the means or don't want to sell to a distributor. Since they don't have a brick and mortar operation they can't easily do the legwork required. 12% takes care of all the handling and selling for them, regardless of market. Stillwater is the same boat, since they brew at various places it's easier to set up an importer than to sell to numerous distributors.
