Has anyone figured out anything past The Stand? I was thinking maybe it had something to do with King Sue. Stephen King and one of his characters being named Susan in the book. Idk

Or do you have to email "The Stand" by Stephen King to Jon to get in on the next clue?

Might this be a clue? Or are you simply just enjoying some Sue haha?

haha, I was just drinking a sue and reading a book outside. I concur about the 5/25 batch being really tasty

    You guys are insane....

My hate for the 05/25 cans was confirmed this weekend. A few friends and myself did a Blind tasting of a group of 7 IPAs including DDH Pseudo Sue, 05/16 Pseudo Sue, 05/25 Pseudo Sue, Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion, Zipline India Pale Ale, Bell's Two Hearted Ale, and a Homebrewed NE style IPA brewed with Galaxy and Citra. All examples were fresh.

My Rankings were #1 DDH Sue, #2 Homebrew (Really Close with #1 - Some called it a tie), #3 05/16 Canned Sue, #4 Two Hearted, #5 Zipline IPA, #6 Luponic Distortion (#3-6 were close by all), #7 05/25 canned Sue (Last by all).

05/25 was last place by everyone by a mile. I agree. It smells a lot like watermelon but like rotten watermelon and some sort of bready doughy yeastiness. I also think it is pretty grassy. This isn't a bad can thing either as I bought a 4 pack as did a friend. All have been the same to my palette. Just an observation.

In the end if you like it that's great. I was just happy to confirm blind.

I've had almost all cannings of Sue that have come out of Florida and probably most batches to be bottled going back 3+ years when they started bottling Sue in Decorah. To my palette, the 5/25 batch of Sue is the closest it has tasted to Decorah brewed Sue. The aroma is still not quite there and the bitterness seemed a touch higher, along with a bit less sweetness than Decorah Sue (which I actually like better), but I'm on my 3rd 4pk of the 5/25 cans and can't get enough. I think it's a stellar batch. Just an observation.

I did have a 5/25 can that tasted off. Also, I am not sure how you can blind test 7 IPA's all at once. No way the last one you tried would taste the same as if you were to try it on a fresh palate.

    ^ This.

That's why I never take the blind IPA thing seriously. You see guys who have tried up to 50 in a day or two for articles, and that is just insane. Even with oyster crackers, pretzels, or even smelling coffee, etc. in between there is no way you are getting an accurate experience of each.

Whelp your palate is suspect because 5-25 is a delightful beer.

I don't know what to tell you guys. I know what I taste. I had already had it on a fresh palette before (3 times in the past week) and thought it was awful. Only thing I could think is the cases that made their way to Western Iowa were off but that would be pretty strange.

I can assure you my palette is not the issue. If the DDH (Admittedly my first ever Decorah Sue - which was stellar!) is any indication of what Sue should taste like. The cans I received were absolutely nothing like Sue other than the color.

Was hoping others were experiencing the same but I guess not. It is all in good conversation. Cheers.

I just picked up 6/1 cans of Sue at Casanova's in Hudson. I didn't try the 5/25 but am feeling hopeful that they are dialing it in based on Bottlecap's feedback.

Care to point out where those cans were in the store? Everything I saw from this weekend was stamped from back in March.

Put me on the side that enjoyed the 5-25 cans of Sue, it had a solid balance. Not quite the feel yet, but the closest its been.

I was there just after their delivery came in today as they had all of their cases of Galaxy Sue bombers and a couple stacks of Sue cans lined up in their back aisle in front of the coolers where the mass produced beer is. I guess I would just ask at the counter for the 6/1 cans.
