    Hear hear!

Maybe one batch of BHA for every 2 of Space? That's not asking too much!

Anyone know what the Big North event on August 20th is? I'd like to see them mess around with some BA stuff, but I have no idea.

Could this be public opening/unveiling of new taproom/restaurant at Bowmanville location...being as its roughly 2 miles north of original location?

Holy shit, they finally did it! I've been asking for a year-round DIPA from them for ages. That it's Navaja is even better, and that it's in cans...AWESOME!

Super pumped for this. Biggest issue now is preparing to battle my girlfriend over how much fridge space these are allowed to take up...

So is Half Acre's version of Freedom of '78 the same as the Short's one on shelves now? It must be the guava, because I didn't like this batch at all. I remember liking it years ago, but this one? Blech.

That's sort of par for the course with the stuff Short's has been distroing it seems.

Excited to try the HA version.. Never had it!

I have so many questions. Where did you learn this?!? When is it happening? They can't possibly keeping the 9.5% recipe, CAN they? What hop will they use, because hasn't it changed a few times? Why don't you have a beer fridge?

    someone help me!

    1) The link someone posted above (also, it's an email from Half Acre that I just noticed was in my "promotional" folder in Gmail)
    2) End of July (per the email)
    3) I assume they will
    4) I'm curious about what recipe they'll use as well; Navaja was my first 5 here on BA back in 2013 when it was using Hallertau Blanc hops (and something else, I think), and the couple batches after really let me down (it has since recovered most of its former glory). Whatever recipe they use, I assume it'll probably be damn good, but either way, I'm super excited for one of my favorite DIPAs now being in cans.
    5) We have an apt., and no room for a beer fridge. Well, my dog has its own bedroom, so technically there's room, it's just taken up by a 10 pound asshole dog.

Navaja, according to Untappd, had Mosaic, Simcoe and Nelson in the first version and the second used Mosaic, Citra, and Centennial. It's definitely got a lot of mosaic in it - that's what I predominantly tasted when Links Taproom had it on draft about 6 weeks ago. Same malt bill both times.

I was under the impression that there'd been multiple (more than 2) batches total, and each was different. There was a discussion a while back (maybe on this thread? can't remember) about the hops in Navaja, and someone mentioned talking to one of the brewers and them saying that in 2013 they threw in Hallertau. No idea how true this is, but that's what I've got.

I haven't had the most recent batch, but the one before it was closer to what I remember of the original. The batch before that was good but a little more generic to my taste. Basically what I'm saying is that as far as my tastebuds knew, there were definitely more than 2 distinct batches, but who knows.

Whatever the case, I hope they've got the canned version dialed in, because I need a go-to DIPA in cans.

Oh yeah, I was just quoting Untappd, which is obviously super reliable.

I definitely think there have been multiple batches. I wish HA would do a better job of disclosing their hops on their website, like Trillium does for instance.

I'm with you on the canned DIPA. Definitely looking forward to it.

I'd still like to know more about The Big North and what that will be. My assumption is just a big beer fest featuring a ton of their different beers, so I will probably (try to) get tickets. I just wish I knew a little more!

The parking lot of the new brewery is begging for a beerfest. It's bigger and it's north of the Lincoln locale. Let's hope.

I've always preferred the Short's version to the HA version. The hops/guava has tended to be more pronounced. But I haven't had either of this year's batches.
