For some reason, and it's completely illogical, I tend to do the same thing. Weird, right? For me, summer beers are usually pilsners, a good kolsch, a nice helles, and some wits.

Oh, Pivo. Oh my goodness, Pivo. Perhaps my favorite American pilsner behind Prima. Yes indeed.

Also: Two Brothers A Bretter Day. A wonderful, wonderful table/farmhouse beer with Brett. About 5.5 percent, I think, but really easy drinking, really flavorful - the perfect Belgian/saison for hotter climes.

    Lighter styles in general...pilsners, wheats.

Summer to me smells of crisp hops in a light to medium body. I've been sticking to sierra Nevada pale ale and a lot of Sweetwater IPA's (sessionable ones especially) since they are easy for me to get living not too far from the brewery itself. On the tour I went to last week they had just released a pineapple IPA, Goin' Coastal, and it was pretty good. I'll pick up a sixer when it hits the shelves here soon.

The problem is that the House Lager is just better than the Framingham Lager in my opinion.

I drink mostly IPAs and Pale Ales in the summer, but try to make them a little lighter than the big DIPAs. Little Sumpin Sumpin works well all summer long, and Easy Jack is a solid session choice.

Probably the first summer beer I drank was Geary's Summer Ale.
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for it.
This year I've discovered S.W.A.G., and I will be drinking a lot of it this summer.

I think Sam Adams Summer deserves more love. It isn't flashy or exciting, but almost nothing goes down easier on a hot day, including Corona. The lemon and grains of paradise or whatever just give it a nice smooth, consistent finish. Unlike Pilsners, its drinkable as it warms a bit. I can't drink any Pilsner that isn't very, very cold.

Thanks for thoughts, man. I usually agree that SA in general deserves more love - Boston Lager, Octoberfest, Merry Maker, and Noble Pils are all great beers.

I'll go ahead and say Flying Dog Numero Uno. I explain it to my friends as a well done "craft Corona" that's got the lime already in it for you. Really refreshing and damn chuggable.

From New England, I've been hooked on Sebago Simmer Down. Very crushable, light and citrusy hop profile without being oppressive

    Maybe I'm in the minority.

Great summer beer? Are some of the same great beers I enjoyed in winter/spring/fall

In MN, I'm happiest with Schell's Hefe and if I can get over the border, New Glarus's two pilsners. In WA, nothing says summer like Fremont's Summer Ale.

I have been on a farmhouse ale kick. Artisan makes a great one, NG is aways a solid pick.

Two Women is a great summer beer. As is Schell's pilsner - really nice stuff.
