Anybody have any experience with Saison dupont? Curious if it would cellar well, either that or Tripel Karmliet (I know its a tripel not a saison)

Can they be aged? Mostly yes

Do they benefit from it? Mostly no.

Fantome beers often have wild yeast and sometimes bacteria as well, so they tend to age well (though they are very hit or miss in terms of carbonation levels and off flavor development).

Tripel K is more of a strong pale than a tripel. Both do fine and develop a bit up to two years from my experience.

Sweet man, thanks for your experience, will give it a shot.

Question is do you think its worth it, or do they not really develop much with time?

I had a Hennepin that was either 2 or 3 years old I'm not sure if the date is a best by or bottled on date, but it was awesome.

I find that most tripels/strong blondes/goldens don't really gain much over time. Many of them by the time they make it to you are a few months old anyways, if not much older. To me they lose complexity from fresh, and I feel like I have become very sensitive to the honeyed oxidation character of Belgian blondes, but others might like that flavor profile. The only beer in that style that I have found ages well is Cuvée van de Keizer Rood. I imagine that the Scaldis Blond Tripel Refermentée 750s might age well also, but I have not experimented with that beer myself.

Edit: also De Dolle Stille Nacht ages well. I have not tried aged Arabier or Boskeun, but they probably age well too.

@TheJermis a bit off topic, but how often do you word search Boulevard? That is really the only way I can figure how you answer/get to pretty much any question in any forum that is company related. And mad props for doing it to. Yet another reason why you guys are one of my favorites!

I'd say I search for Boulevard at least twice a day during my workday. I also encourage folks to just tag me when asking BLVD related questions.

No they will better fresh. Most American Saisons use fresh northwest hops...smoke em if you got em.

Really depends on the Saison. Even Cuvee Dry Hopping I've had 'old' and it was amazing and a very clear hop character. I don't go much more than 1-2yrs on any of em though, and prefer the bretty ones with 6months to a year on em. Barrel Aged Saisons can be all over the place as well. After IPA, Saison is my fastest disappearing beer style in the fridge so even if you want to age em it's hard not to drink all at once :grinning:

It really depends. A lot of them I would definitely agree should be drank fresh, but some do age very well.
