I'll tell you who needs to work on their labelling...it's those Germans. I recently returned from a trip to Bavaria and I couldn't read s**t on those labels. About the only English words I saw much were "Hell" and "Lager". Even American beers like Lowenbrau weren't in English. I sure had me some tasty brews, though. I finally started looking for the word "Hefe" and just drank those. They were all great. I think "hefe" means "boss" in Mexican and they were surely that. I have another interesting fact to share about German beers. Apparently their climate or soil or something isn't good for growing rice like it is here in Texas and they don't use it in any of their beers. I really didn't seem to miss it though...

I realize labels are important, especially when you are trying to stand out from other products but whatever happened to the old expression "you can't judge a book by its cover". I mean once you have tried something and have an idea what's in the package what difference does it really make if the package changes? Other than some possible confusion for those who are too lazy to read the label, changing packaging shouldn't make any difference in purchasing habits. If you're looking for a six-pack of a certain beer, are you not going to buy it because the package has changed? I sure hope not.

On the flipside, here's an example of packaging/marketing that makes me want to buy the beer and cherish the containers thereafter

And that reminds me of another bad label...Tongue In Cheek Kriek. I mean, even if I WANTED to see a dude's bare bee-hind (which I don't) it wouldn't be on a beer I'm drinking! OK, now an emoticon is pretty much mandatory...

Lagunitas. Now that the "Beer Speaks" people have that Heineken $$$, I want to see all labels use 24k gold foil :grinning:

There's a solution to this problem. When I don't want to look at a label, I pour the liquid into a glass. Then I throw the container away.

It was dated 10 years ago. Looks like a Cosi's -- or maybe a McCafe -- from 2001. Just awful.

I used to think the same but the birch/barcode thing has grown on me. It's ugly and confusing but also a bit iconic. The rest of the can (including the choice of color) needs to be changed.

Well said. These are not only ugly but the images themselves are of very low quality and cheap-looking.

This brewery just started to bottle their beers. I think that they already need to change the labels.

I said Troegs as well. I absolutely hate the new label art! That new Troegenator looks like a horned Jesus and Mad Elf looks like a gremlin.

I've been over Stones gargoyles for a long time. That, combined with their SoCal "we're too cool" vibe just rubs me the wrong way.

Shoot me now but I am actually not the hugest fan of Flying Dog's labeling. It's a bit TOO 'abstract' for me. I do believe that it would be a bit counter-intuitive to change their labeling at this point though because it is such a recognizable feature of their brand. Good beer though so I will keep buying regardless.
