Haven't had a chance to read all 19 pages of this thread so hoping someone can help me cut to the chase.

Going to Bethesda this weekend. Any good breweries, or shops to get local beer (growlers would be amazing), within 15ish minutes (i have a short window of free time). I checked out Aslin but seems about 35 minutes away which is too far for me.

    Appreciate the help

+1 on this. Their dry hopped sours are killer, especially Psychokinesis if it's still on. Rainbow Dome and Vacay are also awesome.

Go to Downtown Crown. It's the best place for beer in all of MoCo. They get Shelton Bro's stuff, have a ton of taps for growler fills, and will have tons of local options that other stores won't have. It's right off 270, so it should only take you 10-15 min from Bethesda. They also have another shop called Georgetown Square Wine and Beer closer to Bethesda, but it's not nearly as good.

Bethesda is in Montgomery County and their beer/wine/liquor distribution is controlled by the count, which is to say it sucks. Call me a hater but I would say generally the bottle shops in Mo. Co. are the weakest in the area. That's not to say that there aren't good ones, but the good ones mentions above plus some other small ones are really it for the entire county. If you're coming from Bethesda - go to Calvert Woodley on Conn. Ave, Magruders on Conn. Ave, or Rodmans on Wisconsin Ave (Rodmans is the closest). Rodmans is essentially in Bethesda (though I think it's right across the DC line) and closer than Downtown Crown.

get the bba my only friend at ocelot. so i heard, maybe upthread, the grimm at beltway was two months old. it tasted like it was two months old when i was there last weekend. and those growler fill prices were ridiculous.

was at aslin for the peach & vanilla mind the hop release last saturday. 64oz per person limit. it was kicked by about 6-6:30 same day. BUT, while it was supposed to be a saturday release, they started pouring it thurs last week per the checkins on untappd. if it were me and I absolutely had to make sure i was getting it or it was way out of the way, no way i would wait until 8pm. but if i had no choice but to wait and it wasn't too far out of the way, it is worth a shot. i'd say <10% chance they still have those beers by then. but, hey, the crowler machine could break sometime during the day and you have a shot.

Have they ever sold out of a beer same day it was released? I think he should be fine to get there by eight. However, there seem to be a lot of forces hyping this release, so maybe this will be the first release to sell out in a day.

Anyone at Aslin? My buddy just said line is 30 deep already. Enjoy everyone, but I will not be making the trip out there. Master of Karate is A+.

@Franch are you there? I did the math, there's enough beer for ~450 crowlers of each beer. That's at most enough for 225 folks. My guess is they are all sold out today.

was at the end of the line and cranky, also had the dog in picture who would not like standing in the sun for two hours. heading to ocelot to drink in relative peace. anyone want to trade either I'd be super grateful. if not whatever. I'll try master of karate someday.

This is why we don't have nice things. Check the trade forums there are already FT posts for Aslin crowlers.

My buddy was waiting in line for an hour and still hadn't made it to the bar. He thought the line behind him was another 2 hrs...
