Really Why? Why would Fulton not want the freshest brew in the consumer hands , and also have a thread about 300?

Wait, so you are concerned with freshness dates.

Hate to say, but the lack of bottling date has limited my purchases of 300. Really, really good beer, but I'm not willing to roll the dice on my IPAs. No bottle/can date means unless it just arrived on the market, I usually pass.

Could not agree more. 300 is so good i bought at first re-release earlier this year , but now im not sure of the date, so i pass.

Exactly. I just took a chance on a 6-pack of 300. I enjoyed it, but it will be the last I see of it until they start putting dates on the bottle.

Bear Republic also falls into this category. They did put some sort of code on the bottom of the bottle, but it was not readable.

Sixpoint PUFF, rather easily found, was delicious, and they date their cans (a BBD, but that's better than nothing). Now that I will be purchasing again.

Bear Republic puts a Best By Date at the base of the bottle. Very easily legible on all the bottles I just checked at my store.

Interesting. I had a Racer 5 last night. I see a (Julian?) code of "051 A1 1659" on the bottom of the empty bottle but nothing that indicates "Best By"...maybe my 6-pack is missing it...

Yeah, it even says the words "Best By Date" right on the bottle. I don't mean the literal bottom of the bottle either, just at the bottom below the label. Not sure what's up with the bottles you have.

I think it is time for a refresher course on Julian dating and why it is used!

... or time for it to go away and everyone to just use bottled/canned on dates!

It is for inventory management and other manufacturing-related functions, not consumer information.

Hey all, considering building a tap system for home but wanted to see if anyone can tell me what kind of selection might be out there for 1/6 kegs? I plan on kegging home brews but would like a couple commercial choices on tap as well. Or if you know a good place to get them I can call or stop by and inquire. Prefer south metro. Cheers!

Why don't you get a couple half barrels of Saga and call it good?
