Haven't seen it in Lexington except for one four pack at whole foods, but Bypass Liquors in Nicholasville had a case of Puff in their fridge section. Worth picking up for a IIPA, IMO.

    Agreed! It is quite delicious.

I used to think Bypass was overpriced, and then I learned about the 5% alcohol tax in Nicholasville. That being said, they do end up getting a pretty decent selection. Last time I was in, they had a bunch of bottles of Avery Tweak, which i didn't see anywhere else in Lexington.

Anyone know if Country Boy still has bottles other than the Crab Apple Saison today? And is DB Shotgun Wedding still on?

I presume they still have everything but maybe the Strawberry Saison. Looks like Rum DBSW might still be on, but doesn't seem that Quad Berry is.

I would say Ethereal is the second best brewery in Lexington. They make some very interesting beers and I didn't get to try Baba Yaga, but heard great things. I would love for them to bottle some of their beers though. Cool brewery too, love that their outside area.

Also, did anyone pick up any beer from Grimm? I saw beer trappe have some and was considering going and trying it. I know they are rather expensive, but curious none the less.

To piggie back onto this, if they ever bottle a lambic I'd probably be willing to skip my own wedding or parents funeral at a chance to buy bottles. That Peach Lambic at their anniversary last year was out of this world good. Best beer ever commercially released in Kentucky.

I picked up a bottle of Grimm's Maple Bourbon Barrel Double Negative yesterday. The others were sours that I wasn't interested in. Did manage to get a 32oz growler of Snake Cake though, so that's a plus.

For those interested, Country Boy has bottles of everything available: Country Western 4, Alpha Mosaic, Namakemono, Strawberry and Crabapple Saison available. Plus Rum BA DB shotgun wedding on tap.

Snake Cake growler? Who filled that for you?

It was sitting in the to-go cooler. Marked $17.99 growler included. I was shocked.

Yes. But the lambic program is supposedly dead. No shit. I'd send messages to their FB page and keep clamoring for more.

I've had and enjoyed Psychokenesis before. I snagged a Maple BA Double Negative. Stuffed it in a box next to the regular BA Double Negative. I need to drink more beer. Sigh.

I have heard the same thing, and that their sour stuff for that event could have just been essentially homebrew.

Was this at the trappe then? I think I have seen them do that before with other stuff.

It was probably them emptying a keg so they could rotate it out.

Yeah it was The Trappe. They were clearing the lines for that Uinta takeover on Thursday. I'm surprised it lasted until Friday afternoon. I needed a new 32oz growler since a lady at Liquor Barn chipped the top of mine, so it all worked out for me.

Let me know how the Maple Double Negative is. Just reading reviews, it doesn't sound like it would have the characteristics I would want. Do we know if this is Grimm actually being distributed in KY for real or just a one time thing? I would love to try some of their beers but don't want to go hunting around.

Your lucky on that snake cake growler. I have never seen them do that at the trappe but doesn't surprise me. They are usually cool about growler fills there. In terms of Ethereal, I would love for them to get a bottling systems. It seems rather weird that they don't atleast do bombers of some of their beers.

Just saw that W + M Market is doing a Breury takeover this week if anyone is interested. That place usually has some good bottle choices and since the gf is away, I might sneak into it.

Also, Rhinegeist is releasing their Rye IPA called Streaker in cans this year. It was released last year in bombers and it is a darn good beer. I will be happy to pick up a 6 pack of it.

I've seen Grimm here in KY before, but it's usually pretty small and sporadic. From what I gather, because they are Gypsy Brewers, all of their releases are pretty limited.

Ok, now this is just a rumor I heard from some people, but... Snake Cake might be going in bottles.
