Thanks for the advice. I ended up going to Bradleys in Bethesda. Decent selection of fresh local beer and growlers to go. I thought it was decent

Fwiw, I think Aslin might be just fine as long as you avoid Saturday releases for hyped beers. I went on Friday afternoon and got a seat right at the bar and got a couple of glasses and crowlers of Neutrino (a damn fine beer!) without any wait or issue. I'm curious what folks think it'll be like on Thursday. I was considering heading over there, but don't want to bother if it's going to be a shitshow.

I have gone over for previous releases on Wednesdays and walked right in at 3pm, ordered a crowler and been back on the road in less than 10 minutes.

I think you can throw the norms out the window. It seems like every week they are blowing past what they did the previous week. It used to be that a beer was on tap for 2 weeks. You could sit down with maybe 10 other people an order 128oz to go. Then they had order forms to help organize things. Then they started closing down on Sunday's and Wednesdays because they were running out of beers. Then this Saturday, they had a 3 hour line and ran out of beer in 5 hours. I think once people realize that Saturday is too busy, they will find a way to get there on Friday. The hype and scarcity of the product is going to lead to things being completely unpredictable for the near future at Aslin. I think things are just getting started for these guys. I'd throw money at them to be an investor so they can expand as I'm sure many others are.

Well, I'm 100% going on Thursday right when they open. I'll report back. I can't imagine it will be the same scenario, but I also didn't think Sat was going to be as packed as it was.

aslin is going through exactly what hill farmstead did in 2011. I fondly remember pulling up to HF an hour after they opened, no one being there, filling some growlers, chatting, and getting some tasters. I remember being able to take kegs home!

hopefully the owners of aslin will be smarter about it and throw fewer tantrums and respect their customers a bit more than HF did a few years back.

someone on a facebook group said there would be no take out for double orange starfish. i haven't seen anything to confirm that. whoever is going out might want to check the rules/ limits on the aslin fbook page before going out on thursday.

I don't know if it was someone trolling, someone trying to un-hype this thing for their own personal gain or if they have inside information. I'll check the Aslin facebook page before i drive out there and if it doesn't say anything, I'll assume I am good to go.

I asked in the event page with no response yet, but that is odd they would have that in place.

It wouldn't be the first time they didn't fill growlers, but it's usually when they're running out, not pre-emptively.

yeah, for some of the berliners they refused take out. also, there was an ipa they didn't allow take out for recently, but i believe that was due to carbonation issues.

Can't speak to cans, but the draft of Space Reaper is phenomenal.

Saw that on their Instagram as well. I'm guessing that means the limit on Astro Zombie is 2?

well, turns out i can't go out to aslin thursday after all, but even if i could, this announcement would probably persuade me not to. i wouldn't be able to get there before they sell 60 crowlers of double starfish.

Been to Aslin once before and decided that I would just wait until they expand and had more than two beers available before going back. The recent developments ITT have only encouraged my stance on that.
