Didn't even know about Grand Trunk. I may go there. Though $4.50 for a bottle seems incredibly unreasonable now that I've been to Green Dot... they have some Michigan 12oz drafts there for $3, as well as $3 bottled beers. Not as huge of a selection as Grand Trunk, but a good one regardless.

I'm not up in the D too much these days, but I am definitely going to have to check this place out next time I am up there. Nothing on the menu over $3, including drinks? I can dig that.

I agree green dot is awesome. Their drafts and bottles are cheap although I think drafts are not 16oz. If you go get the Korean slider.

They're indeed 12oz, but regardless. Still a pretty good place to go (especially for drinks). I'm a loser who writes Yelp reviews in his free time, here's what mine was:

I literally JUST got home from my first visit to Green Dot, and I must say, I got exactly what I expected.

I went there with a group of friends and we definitely had a good time. There's a lot to say about this place, but I'm not sure how to organize it. I'll give it a shot... alright, the food and drinks. EVERYTHING is under $3 on this menu -- unless you get premium liquor drinks ... in that case, $4 -- and that initially seems like a bargain. The truth is, it quickly adds up. A typical guy with a normal appetite will have no problem going through three 12oz craft draft beers for $3, four burgers, and two orders of fries. It sounds like a lot, but trust me... the portions are pretty minuscule.

Regardless, the food is very good ... almost excellent. Personally, I got the cuban, BBQ bacon, buffalo chicken, hot brown, and two orders of truffle fries, as well as a bite of the Korean and macaroni and cheese.

I have to tell you, as small as the sliders are -- and believe me, they're SMALL -- they pack a lot of flavor. I really have to give it to Green Dot ... their chicken tastes GREAT. I absolutely loved the buffalo chicken and hot brown. I just wish that they were bigger. The BBQ bacon was pretty tasty, and the cuban was alright (I got a fatty piece of pork underneath a good piece), but the chicken was definitely the best. And the truffle fries? Forget about it. These reviews aren't kidding at all... some of the best I've ever eaten. BE CAREFUL THOUGH. I nearly bit my fingers off :slight_frown:.

Overall, Green Dot is a fantastic place. I withhold giving it a 5/5 rating simply because of the food prices ... it really is an illusion. It seems like a great deal, but when you get the bill, you'll see it's really no different than going to a place with normal portions. I can't fault them for it, it's a pretty smart business model, no doubt. I got a few of their draft beers and thought they were really quite good. I got the Bell's Oberon, Dragonmead Final Absolution, and Lagunita's IPA. With this place's selection of beers for the prices, it's a FANTASTIC place to go for drinks, as well as get a few burgers or orders of fries.

Like I said a couple of times though, the prices quickly add up once you realize every bit of what you're ordering is $2 or $3. I was just there two hours ago, and my stomach's already wanting a little more to eat. Green Dot Stables is a place I can see myself going to again and again, but I just can't quite give it 5 stars.

Regardless of that, I HIGHLY recommend you go here, and also should tell you that you MUST try the truffle and herb fries if nothing else.

Nicely put. The small food portions actually sound pretty appealing to me, as whenever I go out to eat, I tend to bring a lot home, so here, I can just pay less for less food and spend more on beer.

I just wish I wasn't about 30-40 minutes outside of Detroit, otherwise I'd go a lot more frequently.
