Did they run out of Monkey on Sunday? Nobody really said anything officially on the topic

Tasting room availability is published on FB wednesdays and saturdays before the sessions begin

If MCTW sold out Sunday I will eat the keyboard I'm typing this on. It's a low ABV sour, and the last thing to sell in a weekend was Regular Coffee. Dune Fruit lasted at least 2 weeks if I remember correctly.

Thats what I was thinking. Thats why the post surprised me. Also @NJNYC732 -- I know I know

A few weeks ago I was checking to see if Rickey was available on Wednesday before I went over but it was NOT on the original list. It was added on a little bit after 5pm!

Honestly Carton chooses to be purposefully vague about some things to reduce hype/lines, and it works for them. One recent IPA (could have been a dubviant, Id or AOE, can't recall) was't "listed" on Facebook at session open until 5:10 or 5:15 and a corresponding email broadcast was sent out announcing it's availability. It was subsequently edited in on Facebook. The philosophy, repeated ad nauseam by @augiecarton is intended to make you not really care about release days - because you know it will last a few sessions after that. Is that the case for every single beer (AOE)? No - but it means that as good or better beers last weeks, not hours.

AOE lasted a couple days, there is never a reason to stress one of our beers

I love Cartons beer. They are all solid and I gladly pick up 4 packs anywhere I find them or when I visit the brewery. But they don't have a beer that would sell out in a day on their normal rotation. Sure exceptions like AOE but that even made some to the following business day. While their beer is great it doesn't create the hype that a Kane or Other Half IPA will. Their beer isn't as popular

If AOE was announced ahead of time, then I'm sure it would have sold out much quicker (i.e. gives more folks time to plan and attack)

Oh yea there would have been a line. But Augie goes out of his way to kill hype, lines and trade value. If you dont, you should listen to the latest episode of Steal This Beer. He talks about it in detail.

No qualms here...I love the Augie/Carton strategy

I wouldn't even bring up collab beers when talking about how fast a brewery's beers sell out. Especially an Other Half Collab (AOE) which created a lot of buzz from the OH crowd as well as Carton fans who saw AOE as an opportunity to try an Other Half DIPA without having to make the trek to Brooklyn and kill an entire Saturday morning.

Absolutely. The following Wednesday was quite the indication of that.
I missed out on that Sunday, so I was glad that I was able to come over on Wednesday to grab some.

I really appreciate the effort to squash hype. He could easily go the other way with it. I've been able to consistently get and enjoy more canned Carton beer than any other local brewery. And do it by driving down, walking in with no line and walking out in less than five minutes. That's what I wish was possible for every brewery's beer I want to buy.

If I still lived in Middletown I'd hit up Carton all the time. Being so close to Other Half and I still don't go to releases anymore really unless they post at like noon saying they still have beer with no lines. I respect what @augiecarton does with not building too much hype. Carton beers are phenomenal and he gives everyone a chance to go in and grab some beers without a hassle. And the fact that they can enough beer at a time to last X amount of days is amazing. I understand what people are saying about the AOE release but that's how Carton does things. Why would they build hype just because it's a collab with Other Half? Don't think they would want people lining up really early and especially since drinking on line isn't uncommon at OH releases (no offense to OH).

they are across the street from a school. Setting it up so you have a bunch of neck beards drinking whalez bro out of paper bags at dismissal is not being a good neighbor.
You can't argue with the way Carton is doing things

Not sure how close to Red Bank you are, but they have it on draft now at B2 Bistro & Bar.

Thanks for the heads up! Works just outside of RB, but I did get a growler of Rickey before it sold out.

    For those in North Jersey
    Kelly's in Belleville has:
    Boat
    HopPun
    SS Cream
    Rickey

Also has Kane Hop Lab Citra, Cloud Cover and Head High.

Not a bad selection in my opinion
