"Fortune Favors the Funk" Bottle Release at Beachwood Blendery

After 18 months of brewing, aging and countless tastings the time has come to begin transitioning away from The Propagation Series with the release of Fortune Favors the Funk, a 'Lambic inspired' ale.

Fortune Favors the Funk is a unique collaboration with our talented friends from Sierra Nevada. Together, we spent an afternoon tasting and blending to create a beer that showcases our love of wild flavors and balanced acidity. The final beer was created using the Blendery's 'Lambic inspired' barrels and an experimental hop Sierra Nevada provided, known as ex-598.

Fortune Favors the Funk was brewed with traditional lambic ingredients; pilsner malt, unmalted wheat and aged hops boiled for three hours. The base beer was fermented in neutral oak barrels and aged for almost a year. After blending, the beer was dry hopped with ex-598 hops, bottled with wine yeast, and allowed to condition for over two months. Fortune Favors the Funk has a classic rustic profile balanced with solid acidity, full body, and clean finish.
When: Friday, June 24th at 6pm.

Where: Beachwood Blendery, 247 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach

    Price: $18 / 750mL bottle

Thats what I heard at first, but then my source said they dont have plans to buy a canning line yet. So bottles first, unless something changes.

Yea you could be right. Heard that if and when they start canning it might be at the new HB location. Details are still coming in. They hope to be brewing their by end of summer?

Yeah correct. They hope to be, but my guess it wont be until Fall.

I haven't asked them yet, but I do wonder if they need to change their licenses. I assume they have been operating on a CA 23. But that allows 6 locations (including all owners and spots they may own). Now correct me if I am wrong, but I thought only 2 of the 6 could be restaurants. So that would mean that HB would be the 3rd (SB and DTLB). So they might need to switch to a type 1, if they ever want food at HB.

Current plan seems to be food trucks, but the topic of just having pulled pork/chicken catered there is feasible.

They are currently brewing in HB. It should be another couple of months before the tasting room can open. No info on cans.
