To be able to drink in peace away from the beer bus bros?

Yeah, brain was already on the 2nd and 3rd sentence while I was typing.

Conceptually cool, but I'm curious to see how certain things play out. For example, does this mean fewer BA beers will be on tap at the main draft stations and you have to get into the little room for BA offerings? The new tasting room has been such a huge step in the right direction with both more space and a great selection of specialty beers, I'd hate to see them take a step backwards towards cramped space for their most limited beers.

Not overly concerned until it's fully fleshed out, but I hope they don't sacrifice the steps forward they've made with their main tasting room.

when i was in there last week, the beertender told me that they will more than likely move all of their BA offerings into the BA room.

It's funny because that was never mentioned with the few tours I took as well as questions I asked since that was a concern.

    Guess I'll ask again tonight.

If they ask your opinion, tell them people on the internet want the BA beers still available at the main draft station.

Who wouldn't care about what faceless internet voices think?

Feels like the smart thing would be to consistently have BA beers in there, and still have BA beers at the main bar when the supply of them is higher. But that's just what sounds logical and good business... guess we'll know after they have it open for a while. Pretty awesome concept though if it works out imo

Alrighty, here is the information I gathered. As with everything, it can change down the line or even in a couple days.

Total capacity: 20, we had 21 in there last night and it was still comfy
Time limit: 1hr sessions, but you can in and out during that time
    Pour limit: none
How to get in: sign up book right outside, put name down for a session and then go in during that time. Book will be roughly a few weeks long so you can plan ahead. You can sign up all day if you really wanted to so long as there was room to put your name down.
Fee: free to get in, tasters will be 2.75 for 3oz and 5.50 for 6oz. So basically the exact same as the current prices
Priority entrance: nope, whomever signs up first.
BA beer at regular bar: there will not be duplicates, so if it is on in the ba room it won't be on in the main area, exceptions being release weekends.
Hours of operation: same as regular tasting room.

I took shitty cellphone camera pictures but was told to hold off on posting those until saturday.

Also 2015 BASS is drinking excellently

That's for the write up and helpful info. I have a question about the bolded text above: If I were to visit over specific dates in August, would my local SD friend be able to list our names for an exact date this far in advance?

I wouldn't see why not aside from the really advanced notice. Couple buddies and I were joking around that instead of gopickitupformebro we now have sosignmeupforitbro.

The book was not out on display last night so I can't tell you how far in advance it would be. The example I was given when I asked was a couple weeks, could be longer, could be shorter. Hell they even still had the little sign posted to go see the person working the gift shop for a ticket since the original thought was to have the gift shop "sell" (i.e. hand out) a set number of tickets per hour. While I think that would be good to get patrons into the gift shop I can see the nightmare it could cause.

You are welcome. One thing I forgot to mention, and actually almost everybody that was invited last night completely forgot about, was that we can blend any of the beers on draft in the BA room. Nick had one he was proud of, although I completely forgot what he ended up blending and the ratios because I was busy taking shitty pictures instead of listening as he made it.

However after my pictures I was attempting to find any bottle or draft of viet speedway so that I could blend it in with the 2015 bass and make at least a makeshift bavss to hold me over (spikes the veins).

Also I think the tap list this weekend will knock some socks off. For some reason they don't have an event posted anywhere that I can see on their FB page like they normally do so not sure how much I can say without getting in some sort of trouble but I would highly highly highly recommend the randall they are planning on having (it may or may not contain bass, and toasted coconut and viet coffee beans). But only get it after I got mine please...kkthx4it. =P

Man, I guess that made the decision to go pick up my bottles this weekend a little bit easier. Thanks Reaper.

Interested to see what they do with this but hoping it doesn't make it harder to try their BA beers when visiting. But knowing Alesmith, they'll do the right thing.

That was actually one of their biggest concerns and probably the longest question that was discussed when I busted out my paper-o-questions last night. It is also why I asked if they would have a priority system in place to let those VIP patrons by pass any sort of wait to get in. I was a little upset when they said no, everybody would be on equal ground, mostly because I was being selfish...but was very glad so that when visitors from out of town are able to stop by they have as good a chance as anyone else to walk in and enjoy those offerings, assuming they don't kick.

Total taps are 12 right now, there was a discussion to add in 6 more since they have the space but they were a little higher and Nick joked that some of the staff may need a step stool to reach the taps. He mentioned that it would be difficult initially to keep 12 taps full due to the amount of ppl they are expecting to serve from that room for the first few months but confident that they could maintain the supply to meet the demand.

As a guy who only ever gets to stop off at Alesmith for 30 minutes or so on my way in and out of town, and cant usually anticipate down to the hour when I will be there, I do not like this plan :slight_frown:

This will be my first time picking up at Alesmith during the actual release. I'm assuming that this plus the Anvil & Stave thing equals madness there.

Your assumption would be correct. My current plan of attack is breakfast burrito, get there at opening, grab a couch and then watch the madness occur.
