It's June. Why waste time talking about the fall seasonal releases that start in August? Hell, why not talk about next spring's seasonal releases?

The last time I mentioned "pumpkin beer" to my wife, she made a face that would scare Isis into seclusion! :grinning:

Once May first has come and gone, it's officially Märzen season :stuck_out_tongue:. On topic I am really looking forward to some new brands being released september first by the monopoly this year. It will be worth the wait however.

One of my favorite styles. I choose to wait until fall though, they are better on cool nights that arent 80 degrees

Maybe in Sweden but not here in the U.S., as far as I'm concerned. And please enlighten me as to what "the monopoly" is.
    Thanx.

I could not agree more. Like x1000.
I want Ayinger Marzen in Sept /Oct and then anticipate the return.

Now that you mention it, yes I am craving oktoberfests already. Plus pumpkin beers, and just generally the fall. Love putting down some oktoberfest/marzen while watching college football and eating a good burger or hot dogs. Although I want them however, I'll still wait until fall because I like the seasonality aspect of beer!

I'm brewing one next week. Should be ready by late-September. Can't wait.

I should be careful because I might make one of those posts myself. It wouldn't make me a hypocrite though, because I wouldn't look forward to my own post either.

I don't know the beer you are referring to, but do you mean "incorporating just enough pumpkin pie spice" rather than "pumpkin?" Would pumpkin really give an "autumn vibe?" Genuine questions.

I am not yet craving Oktoberfest beers, but when fall hits, the three that I am most looking forward to are:

    - The anticipated Sierra Nevada/Mahrs beer
    - Bell's. In 2015, this one was intense in the melanoidin department. I could see how it would turn others off.
    - Traunstein Festbier. Can't wait to revisit this. One of my favorite beer moments from last year. The reviews here are terrible.

I read somewhere recently that Pabst is putting out an Oktoberfest under the Old Style label...and having it brewed in La Crosse. I'm hoping to run across that beer this season.

I crave them all year round but prefer to drink them seasonally during the Fall months. Keeps them exciting for me and prevents me from getting burnt out on them.

Some personal favorites are Ayinger, Hacker-Pschorr, and Paulaner Weisn. Locally in NJ, Ramstein makes a version that I really enjoy.

The kids these days fear the melanoidins...what with their hops, tropical fruits, and bourbon barrels...

This was on tap at my local bar this past fall...I don't remember it standing out, but I may have only tried a sample and moved on, rather than an entire half liter. I think the reviews, and then the sample I tried, may have deterred me. This bar has MANY Oktoberfests on tap (including Andechs which I'd never seen before), so I had to pick and choose.

Sorry I missed that -- they had brewed one a few years back that had great bready melanoidin, but since then I'd found it pretty blah. Sounds like they re-tweaked the recipe just as I'd lost faith. :slight_frown:

Yeah and what cracks me up about this is that more than half of the reviews mention oak/woody flavors and some of them go as far as to knock points off for "not enough oak flavor". Reminds me of the holiday spice references with SN Celebration

Count me as one of those that thought they picked up oak in the beer.

Oak is one of those flavors that I feel is really subtle, so the power of suggestion could sway some people (myself included).

Celebration makes sense too, because hops can be spicy in their flavor profile.
