Loopy was my favorite beer at the Brew Festival last Saturday. Better than Scorpius.

Wow, that changed. I filled three growlers of Loopy Lynn when I was there a couple weeks ago.

I love Pulpit, but I wouldn't agree on this. Loopy is great, but Scorpius is probably the best hoppy beer out of the Midwest this year.

That said, Pudgy is ridiculously good and I'm looking forward to running errands in Decorah tomorrow.

Pulpit Rock will fill growlers of all beers until they're on their last keg. Loopy Lynn hit the last keg this past weekend.

Is anyone from the Des Moines area headed to Decorah for the PR birthday party tomorrow?

Not from Des Moines area, but I was there Saturday. Loopy Lynn and For the Joy of Almonds...two of my favorites, were both on tap. They also had pudgy which is very good too.

Then I went to TG and had a double dry hopped firkin of King Sue and the newest barrel of Term Oil.

Throw in the Mabe's Pizza we had at PR and ice cream from Wippy Dipp for the drive home and it was a good day.

Oh, and I brought home a bunch of Loopy Lynn crowlers for future enjoyment.

Saturday was indeed a great day in Decorah! Pulpit Rock is AWESOME. I hope they stick around and do well and expand the name they're making for themselves. Saftig is great, Loopy is excellent. Rechoncho was also the star of the show on Saturday, for me. They had an amazing stout selection on Saturday.

I didn't have the Rechoncho...had to be selective and I'm not typically a fan of stouts with peppers in them, but I've heard multiple people say it was the best so of course I'm feeling a slight measure of buyer's remorse. There was no way I was going to pass on JoA....it's one of my all time favorites.

Thoroughly enjoyed Pulpit's anniversary. I felt like any of the 3 stouts (pudgy, Rechoncho, and JoA) could all have been the best beer of the day without the others on tap. I preferred the vanilla. Couldn't fit Loopy into my day, but unlimited crowlers (got 4) aided in that decision. I'm not sure batch 2 is as good as the beloved batch 1, but that's common for my palate. Would have liked to try the fruited strong ale and the new pour-over, but so be it. Also left before the pig. How'd that turn out?

Missed the King firkin at TG by a couple pours thanks to a rush of wedding folks catching a buzz before the reception. TO 1C was good.

Oh, and no disrespect to Mabe's. It's good and all, but Happy Joe's has been my jam since childhood. Hadn't actually eaten inside one in years, and it was great. Gotta order extra cheese to make it familiar though. Joe got a little stingy over the years.

I wasn't able to make it, but I do have someone bringing me some Loopy Lynn. It blew my mind when I had it the last time I was in Decorah.

I'm passing through Decorah this weekend, should I plan to hit up PR? Do they sell bottles/cans at all? I know nothing about them...

For sure check them out. They're just down the road from Toppling Goliath.

They've got a current taplist up on their website, with some descriptions of their beers. Might have a few beers available for Growler fills.

In addition to the comments above, they also now have a crowler machine and frequently have crowlers pre-filled and ready to go.

In my opinion, "For the Joy of Almonds" and "Loopy Lynn" are two must-try beers if they have them on tap.

Unless you're seriously limited in the number of beers you can have, there's no reason not to stop at PR when you're there. There have been times (late June this year, for example...the day where they ran out of KS after tweeting there was plenty) where I didn't even go to TG because they had nothing particularly attractive on tap...just went to PR. In general I try to hit both though.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely be planning on stopping. I don't have a ton of time, and am driving, so I am limited on the number of beers I have but I'll be sure to at least try Loopy Lynn and For the Joy if it's on tap next weekend.

You'd be crazy to be at TG a literal stone's throwaway and not go to PR :-D

My arm isn't really that good, but it's only an 8 or 9 iron away...

From up in the corner of the parking lot...maybe....but can you carry the PR building to get to the door?

I'd hope for a good bounce off the parking lot.

You'll need it. I just plugged it into a running distance calculator and it's 211 yards. I think you better break out the 5 iron.
