If I could afford to drive back and forth to Iowa again to grab a case I probably would, but we were just there for a funeral. As for shipping a case, wow, you're effectively doubling the price of an entire case and in for a lot of expensive drinking. Honestly, I'd just be happy to have 2 bottles to split with some pals.

Also, has a Rue been opened yet?! Any takes or rumors on how tasty it is?!

Yeah, getting paid to drink beer on a Saturday is awful :grinning:

Anyone one whose been to Decorah knows there's plenty of good reasons to go there beyond just getting bottles of TG. Speaking of which Loopy Lynn and Pudgy were both great beers! And the new Pompeii draft was super on point.

Everyone else, sorry no more OT posts here by me

Why would they not tweet that though? Good for business if they did have a lot. I'm sure they had more than they typically do if they tweeted that, they probably just had even more people show up because of that and ran out really fast. It's a highly sought after beer and people knew (or should know at least) the risk of them running out if they're driving there. Not sure why people are whining about it haha like what do ppl expect that they were the only ones that saw the tweet? (this is not directed at you of course) I understand that it sucks if people made a long drive there, but it's not the brewery's fault that a ton of people showed up to buy their beer before them. Idk just my two cents, but I agree it's kinda of funny lol. But sad at the same time for people who didn't get it.

Glad I was able to snag my six cases this morning thanks to the help of some mule friends.

I'm sure there was a line at opening but 16 minutes USUALLY does not equate to "plenty". But then again normalcy and TG aren't exactly close associates.

16 minutes definitely seems a bit much, probably a crazy turnout though. I heard they had 50 people at open last time.

At least people will be able to drown their sorrows in draft presumably.

I mean if you got a whole case, start drinking now. TG bottles tend to hold up but you have enough to try fresh and not so fresh.

    Warning! Butthurtedness to follow:

I was one of the 3 hour drivers who got the sod out message about 20 minutes out of Decorah. As people have said, it's a highly sought after beer so it's on me for not getting there sooner. My annoyance stems more from the fact that there wasn't much available as far as other beers go (to leave with, that is). NugMo was gone and only the frequently distributed brews (dorothy's, G nug, Sue) were available for growler fills. Oh, and thresher bombers (which I'm personally meh on). Anyway, some pompeii or zeelander or some kind of bomber or growler fill would have cheered me up.

But this is an appreciation thread! I got some fresh Sue and will enjoy it immensely. I also had a couple sol hunters there, which were awesome. A friendly guy shared a tasty stout with me and the missus while we were enjoying our beers. And I won a game of cribbage.

Overall, a good first trip! Looking forward to many more

You have to remember on releases like KS everything is gonna run out. Nugmo had been there for 2-3 weeks, and had already hit distro.

NugMo, fine, it had been out a while. But almost everyone I saw there with their case of king sue amd nothing else, so it wasn't like the place was ransacked. There didn't seem to be much "other stuff" on hand to begin with.

But hey, I checked the taplist before leaving so I should have known what was going to be available  Still happy with my sue! Might be a lunch treat today

Sorry dude that is rough, and I do understand your pain believe me. Making the drive and leaving almost empty-handed is a huge bummer. Did you explain your situation there and ask anyone if you could buy just one bottle from them or anything?

The wife wanted me to, but I figured I'd be back and will have it the future sometime, so no worries. Let them enjoy theirs.

One guy walked in and said he was going to "punch in the face whoever tweeted there was plenty left" that morning. The young lady at the counter responded taht it was Clark himself and would he still like to punch him? To which the perfectly reasonable gentleman replied "doesn't matter." I told him to lighten up (and then continued crying into my sol hunter like a real man).

But yeah, people need to lighten up.
