It won't factor into me much either. I tend to avoid the crowds out there regardless and won't go wait in line even if it is a great beer.

I second the Thursday afternoon release notice and 2 PP.

For the record, I live in Dallas.

I'm good with 2 pp. Now, can we talk about the release date? I'll be out of town a few weekends in July, so please consult me before you make a final decision.

Those Thursday announcements really wreak havoc on the swarms of us coming down from New Mexico.

I would say 2 per is fair. That would hopefully get it to last into the weekend, making it available to more folks.

What is the yield on Montmorency vs. Balafon? My wife just discovered that she loves your fruit sours, and needs more.....

Since you asked, I agree with 2pp. And I don't know if Andrew was serious, but I also think a later announcement is actually a good thing. I know you probably won't get behind a "day of" announcement like Side Project often does, but a Thursday announcement will go a long way to keeping the mayhem down, and dividing the crowd between Friday and Saturday, rather than having one massive rush on Friday.

just my $0.02. I'll be there either way. Cheers!

I do believe that Thursdays provide the least amount of chaos compared to Tuesday/Wednesday. But, it is not hard to get regardless if you go out on a Friday.

My request? Take half of the bottles and keep them for on site consumption throughout the year. I'm a DFW resident, and can't make it down every big release weekend. Sometimes I get lucky, and am free on a big release weekend. Other times, I miss out on a bottle. But I do go down at least once a quarter, and enjoy it every time. If I'm being selfish, I'd love to see a weekly "on premise bottle from the cellar". Atrial one week, 2 year old black metal another. Make it fun, and make it interesting! Getting a bottle of a 500 ml (or spontaneous once that is released) can be stressful and a competition to see who can grab the most. I'd just like to drink the dang beer!

Great idea that I think Jester King just doesn't have the space to support. The one time I got a glimpse into the "back room" with the barrels, it looked pretty damn full

I say raise the price another $10, which may or may not keep potential mayhem from occurring, and use the extra muuuuunay to expand the storage space for future on site consumption and expanded barrel aging which results in more beer for everyone.

It's a win win! Done. Problem solved and no one will ever be happy, except for me because I'm always happy

I don't know what % is kept back, but Side Project does something like this. I also don't know how much the price increases for onsite consumption, but they were selling for $25/375ml and $40/750ml for some of their fruit sours or longer term barrel aged things. I didn't enjoy the price, but I did enjoy the fact that I could waltz in and try a couple of their very sought after things pretty easily. It could work in theory at JK, but...

On the other hand, I was in Denver this weekend and met a guy from Houston at a bottle shop who said he had just bought >$1000 of beer in San Diego and his truck was already full, but it wasn't stopping him from spending quite a bit there in Denver as well. I don't know if there's a way for JK to get Atrial to last very long, no matter how much they charged. You have ~27M people in Texas and there just aren't a lot of Texas produced wild ales of this level of quality. Plus, it's nice to unload thousands of bottles of inventory in a weekend.

Or better idea. Use it to invest in a van to personally bring beer to my house for on-site consumption in my living room. :sunglasses:

Yeah I wasn't suggesting Thursday in terms of making it easier to get. I think a Thursday announcement splits the crowd a bit more - more out of town people come in on Saturday, splitting the crowd a bit between Friday and Saturday.

I'd be interested to see numbers in terms of bottles sold v. date announced, to know whether this actually makes any difference, or whether I'm just making it so in my mind
