2pp to me is the way to do it, especially being an out of towner. Furthermore, I like the thought of knowing on a Tuesday/Wednesday just gives me time to come down on a Friday, and still have the weekend to enjoy. Nonetheless, i'm pumped, can't wait to make it back down.

Don't worry, Houston would still be there in force, even if you announced the day of. It's not THAT far of a drive.

2 per person per day is good for people like me who are willing to drive 700 miles each way for this delightful beer. That said, I would still drive for 1 per and just spend the weekend.

I can't say exactly when yet, but we plan on having a cellar list of limited beers to drink onsite. For instance, we'll have a bottle release day for our 2016 spontaneous/coolship beer, but I plan on holding back a bunch to hopefully remain on our onsite list for quite sometime.

This falls in line with wanting brewery visitors to be able to drink, or at least sample, our fruit refermentations and spontaneous beers onsite. We tell people all about how we make these beers on our tours, but they're rarely available to drink at the brewery (obviously our coolship beer hasn't been released yet, but you get the point). I want to get to the point fairly soon where we almost always have at least one fruit refermentation beer and one spontaneous beer available for onsite only.

I'm all for this. I'd rather show up and enjoy a bottle on-site and enjoy my time there with out crazy to-go lines. The last time I was there without any new releases was the most enjoyable time I've had at JK in a long time.

This might be off the topic, but have you ever considered using different base beers like Petit Prince, etc. for your fruit refermentations?

Batch 1 Nocturn used a different base (Ru-55 IIRC)

I would imagine some of that spontaneous fermented juice would be introduced to fruit at some point.

The bitching about people from other cities coming down for JK releases is really getting old and reeks of entitlement.

I live in Dallas, and haven't posted anything reminiscent of entitlement regarding JK releases, but following through this thread has both - people from other cities trying to skew releases to get a chance at as many bottles as possible, and people who live in Austin trying their hardest to keep JK for their own personal perusal.

Honestly, with how good the beer is, I can see the reasoning of both sides. It is what it is; if you're surprised at how either side is acting at this point.. you only have yourself to blame

Will the bottles be priced above the retail cost to see that they stick around? I could see them selling out just as quick as they do on draft of the price is the same. I think this is true for the fruited sours at least.

I do think this is pretty solid idea. Let's say w O&P, for example, if there are like 4000 bottles, only release half to go. Those fortunate or lucky enough to get there on to-go release day will surely also exhaust the amount in kegs. And those that make it down subsequent days can still enjoy a bottle on site. Sure the amount of hurt-butt will be the same, we are Texas after all, and it does benefit the locals the most, but I've got no problem with that after all locals get out to the brewery way more than I ever can anyway.

Edit: I do admit I have no idea how to run a brewery, and therefore the numbers I quoted above in terms they should keep behind are purely hypothetical.

If that many of the overall count are held back for onsite, I guess there wouldn't be a need for a higher price to make it last for a while. I guess it really depends on how much is held back for onsite sale. Do definitely like the idea of onsite bottles that would otherwise sell out quick. More incentive to go out there on non big release weekends, higher price or not.

Just wait until you hear about my lobbying for banning Mavs fans from JK completely!

Yes, they will. I haven't worked on pricing yet, but that's the plan.
