A swing and a hit! Lovely, shame it's a bit watery.

Hey that's a damn fine beer! Not annoying now I know discussing Belgians in here won't get it deleted by the bros.

onto a brooklyn lager now, to be swiftly followed by a Broadside, just to keep the English end up (oop, pardon missus)

Currently sampling a Canterbury Jack (Shepherd Neame) - OK though nothing amazing. I've got a Marble Arch Dobber lined up for later though which I hope will be better.

Had Flying Dog's Tire Bite Yesterday - I reckon it's the worst US craft beer I've tried. Unbelievably bland. Anyone else had this one? What did you think?

never had Tire Bite, but am wary of Flying Dog because, apart from the Gonzo Porter, the other beers always seem to reach us in a bad state. i don't know WHY this is, but I've tried their bottled beers from a few different sources and they always seem to be in bad nick (ie old). Blame whoever supplies James Clay, I guess!

    o
oh, and when will Shepherd Neame STOP using clear bottles. I know they think it's like a branding thing, but seriously...

Hmmm - I've only tried a couple of their brews, despite having a range of bottles in my local specialist. The last seasonal, K-9, was OK but not special. I've tried Raging Bitch on tap, which was quite nice....

Yeah, can't happen soon enough. Same for the other big ale brewers (Greene King etc.)

Although a Shep Neame seasonal from autumn (Spooky Ale) was in a brown bottle. I noticed because it was so unusual.

Raging Bitch when I've had it on draft here or in the States, or in bottles in the States was excellent. Bought a couple of bottles of it in different outlets in England and it tasted like fucking cold stewed tea or something. Urgh.

My dad loves clear bottles because he reuses them for his own brewing and it lets him see any sediment more clearly! Thats why every xmas he gets in a few slabs of Marstons Burton Bitter.

had a few bottles of RB from Boe - never a problem always tasted good IMHO

also had a bottle of K9 in a pub end of last year - that was OK

Snake IPA prob biggest letdown - but no more so than a random UK microbrewery 4.something % cask effort !

Popped up the local and enjoyed a pint of Dark Star Hophead then the landlord wanders past and plonks half a pints worth of beer on my table without stopping to speak !

I knew exactly what it was - DS American Pale Ale!

Many thanks for the free sample, a few more (straight from the cellar) later and back home we are!

    Prost!

So lucky! I never get to know people well enough to get that kind of service. Tbh I can't even go in a pub alone.

Anyway I popped into Tesco this fine morn, and thought i'd sample the Fullers 2.8 Mighty Atom, and picked up Marstons Oyster Stout whilst I was at it.

Be interesting to hear what you make of the mighty atom - not had it myself yet

I've kicked off Sunday with a pint of DS American Pale down the local - but from the cask line this time as opposed to cellar direct

Now for a bit of 6 nations action, cheering on England with beer from a French province! La Vache Folle - Aramis double IPA @ 9%ABV, flown in from Quebec at the start of the week!

If you can't find it when you eventually have a look, note how it was in the low strength beer section of my local tesco extra, along with 2 or 3 other 2.8% ales.

Glass each of Reverend James and Brain's SA Gold watching the rugby (yes, I know, but my drinking companion is Welsh)
Not bad at all for mere bottled beer
