Morph is considered a session? If it is, I agree with you.

Other Half Baby Diamonds. 4.8% and tastes like a "regular" awesome IPA

That's what I think; however last week had Boneyard Beer's Skin N Bones and found it to be quite delicious. Did have to travel quite a bit to get it (Chicago to Bend, OR) and probably won't see it again (until my mailed crowler comes on Thursday!!), but best I have had so far. Let's see how it holds up and if it's as good as I recall.

I've had nine session IPAs so far and would probably name Daylight Savings (Flying Fish) as my favorite with Grapefruit Weekday (Rough Draft) and Effortless Grapefruit (Captain Lawrence) as close runner-ups.

I don't know how I missed this past from 2015.

I'm gonna have to say FW Easy Jack and/or OB Pinner.

I tried a number of session IPAs when I became aware of them (Go To, All Day, DayTime) but I didn't particularly care for any of them. This year, I tried Two Roads Lil' Heaven brewed here in CT and it's become my "go to" IPA after a round of golf. I haven't bought it at the store yet, just had it on draft, but I will probably consider buying for a party where I want a session IPA.

It changes, but right now Abita Big Easy is my go to.

My thinking on this has changed lately, due to disappointment with some of the big names. I now look for the freshest possible low ABV local IPAs. A new Nashville brewery (Mill Creek) cans a 4.5% IPA with Citra and Galaxy that is by far my current favorite, but I drank it fresh. Great body without the "hop water" feel.

I think freshness is a real thing with session IPAs, possibly even more so than the higher ABV IPAs and DIPAs. Two in particular that come to mind are All Day and Easy Jack. They are really tasty and hoppy for about the first month but fall off pretty quickly after that (especially All Day).

I sampled it, a few times, at a beer festival in DC last weekend. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on it!

er-they are all Pale Ales! That's what the PA means at the end

Seriously though, perhaps "session IPA" is an impossibility. I have stressed the need for a session beer to be low ABV but alongside this in a beer intended for drinking pint after pint over an extended period there needs to be drinkability. The ease with which a beer slips down and each pint tastes better than the one before.A 20th century IPA may pass this test but there are few more recent IPAs which can be drunk effortlessly for hours on end.

Easy IPA - Flying Dog is pretty good. Comes in a can. I like it on the beach.

Thread too long to review all suggestions.

ok heres a question...what do people consider a session around here? seems like a lot of people would call 3-5 pints over a game, a session. for some, thats a warm up.
