Firestone Walker - Stickee Monkee 2016

I also thought it was too sweet but after waiting 6 months to try my second bottle the sweetness had subsided and it was a very different beer. I bought two bottles this year going to try one fresh and age the other.

 

I'm an easy sell. Especially for Firestone. I'm going to pick some up. I just a wine cooler in my work shop, snd I'll age some there.

 

I also started a thread that was deleted. Still waiting in the eastbay...fingers crossed. It's my favorite FW brew.

 

I'm not a fan of anything Belgian but after having the first bottle I scored for almost half price (distributor billed them at 12 a case on the invoice and I was polite enough to tell them $10.99 was not the correct price after they had ran my credit card after waiting for them to enter it in their system and having no idea what I was going to be charged) went back and got the last two at $17.99 each, it's a great 'summer imperial stout' alternative with no real lingering medicinal clove Belgian yeast flavors that make me cringe

 

Crazy that you're still waiting in Cali; I've been in Portland this week and I've seen it all over.

Checked a few more places in upstate NY (capital district), the few who got it in this past week say it was gone same day. On the up side I did manage to snag a couple Parabolas.

 

Well I'll be getting back to Colorado on Tuesday, so I'll cross my fingers!

 

Found some at Pita Kabob Gastro Pub in Visalia Ca. Central Cali. A little expensive at 18.99 but still worth it in my opinion.

 

Bought one at BevMo San Rafael on Saturday.

 

Aside from the BCBS release this is one that I look forward to every year now. It all started at a bevmo when the cashier said "hey, I got this special limited release from FW. Do you want to buy one?" I said yes and that was the end of it. It is definitely my wife's and my favorite FW barrel beer, aside from Double DBA. In fact this year we lucked out and ended up getting 4 bottles. Haven't tried it yet but when we get back from vacation it is definitely going to be one of the first beers we drink!

I picked up 2 bottles of the 2015 vintage last year at Finger Lakes Beverage in Ithaca but haven't seen any of this years yet. I also got 2015 Helldorado, 2016 Parabola and 2016 Sucaba there as well. It moves fast but thats to be expected. I know AJs Beer Warehouse in Rochester gets FW Vintage beers but their stock moves even faster because of the larger market.

If you're hunting in NYC, I got bottles last year from Whole Foods and Covenhoven. Just throw a watch on Beer Menus and keep an eye on Instagram/Twitter and you'll get at least one.

 

I picked up a bottle at the Geneva, IL Binny's if anyone needs to get their hands on one. They said they have one case.

 

FYI for the guys looking in nor cal. I was in Lodi picking up some dragons milk when the guy stocking the shelves asked if I wanted a bottle of stickee monkee. He said they keep it in back and you have to ask for it. They had 10 more bottles

 

I didn't buy one last year when it was available, but I saw a ton of it sitting at the Binny's near me yesterday, so I decided to pick up a bottle. Now to figure out when to drink it.
