    Driftwood Spars Bolsters Blood
Rich boozy fruity aroma like brandy and port
Tastes like blackcurrant jam on burned toast
    A bit too fizzy
On the whole a great dark beer

    Now that sounds awesome!

Had a DogSpew Mr President, needed to be a bit warmer but I wanted something cold. Is this another iteration of Hardcore IPA?

That's exactly what I thought of it, completely underwhelmed.

It is my understanding that Mr President is just a label change of Hardcore IPA for Tesco. Same beer, perhaps they didn't like the Hardcore name over at Tesco.

Had a bit of a payday beer shop splurge with another Bloody Notorious can, 2x Northern Monk 822 DIPAs, Cloudwater/Magic Rock Three's Company (IPA made with JW Lees yeast), Wylam All Gone South NZPA, BBNo Session IPA Amarillo and Mosaic, Omnipollo Onda Mosaic pale ale, and Surly/Lervig 1349 pale ale. Can't wait for this cold to go so I can actually try some properly!

Popped into BrewDog Stirling for some bottles to take away for tonight's football and had 2/3's of...

Firestone Walker - Velvet Marlin - lovely chocolate flavour with a fruity background,

Oskar Blues - 4Fruitmen - American Pale Ale with a big citrus hit.

5 days working now 2 off, I feel like a normal worker. Anyway, celebrating with Wylam 's All Gone South NZ Oat Pale is unfiltered hop loveliness. Such a full but soft backbone means it feels substantial yet so gentle. Could drink 5 pints of the stuff.

Have now had from my take away bottles...

Stone - Americano Stout - massive espresso flavour, fab,
St. Feuillien - Brune Reserve - Belgian Brune with a slight hint of raspberry in the background,
BrewDog - Jet Black Heart - done this before, like.

I see Cloudwater DIPA v4 and v5 are about to be released, anyone got any/getting any?

I bought a 4 and 5 tonight, had the 3 on keg and then had the 4 when I got home, both great beers but I'd not be able to tell you what was different!

The second beer of last night was Northern Monk's 822 DIPA. A really good West Coast IPA, all resinous and soft with a subtle background of alcohol sweetness.

Brussels Beer Project's I Like it Bitter
has that funky slightly citrus aroma of a Belgian IPA
the flavour is like a cask bitter from way back fortified with some kind of industrial alcohol
Eddie ****** would love this beer

Cloudwater/Magic Rock - Three's Company - hoppy DIPA hybridised into English ale with the use of J.W. Lees yeast. Sort of adds in a soft, soapy sweetness to the citrus fruit. Nice stuff.

Beavertown/Boneyard - Bloody Notorious - Bloody 'ell on steroids. The blood orange really has a presence here. Marmaladey fruit with a bit of booze. It's good but not great really, especially considering it's the most expensive of the trio.

The Northern Monk 822 wins this week's DIPA award though.

Got a number of beers I haven't had before from M&S and Wholefoods. Wholefoods seem to have replaced a quarter of their refrigerated beer selection with wine, the dirty bastards. Which is a shame as that area of the city isn't exactly good for off sale beer

They sell the Adnams branded Mosaic at a local I know for £5+ a pint. Criminal.
