Resolve the difference between the original 61 IBU selection and the currently computed 63 IBUs.

Poll closed Jul 6, 2016.
  1. Change the IBU target to 63.

    81.8%
  2. Reduce the 10 minute addition to shave off 2 IBUs.

    11.4%
  3. Reduce the Flameout/Whirlpool/Hopstand addition to shave off 2 IBUs.

    2.3%
  4. Reduce the AA% estimates for hops. Brewers will have to deal with differences year to year anyway.

    4.5%

-> Poll #28 <- determined the Fermentation Dry Hop quantities.

This poll will determine what we'll do (if anything) about the currently computed IBUs being a bit higher than the IBU target. The original IBU target was 61 IBUs (extended Tinseth, including post boil hop contributions). But after the Flameout/Whirlpool/Hopstand qty voting, the estimate is 63 IBUs.

    Straight plurality wins.

For those looking ahead, the next poll will determine the specific hops varieties for the traditional dry hop addition.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

If you have issues with or suggestions for methodologies used in this project, please send them via beermail. Let's keep the threads themselves on topic to the question at hand and not about how you would have asked the question differently. Lobbying for votes and intelligent discussion of each choice's relative merits is encouraged.

63 vs 61 IBUs, or 3% too much bitterness, eh? For analytical purposes do you mind posting the IBU contribution from each hop at the 10/0 steps?

Right now I'm leaning toward reducing the estimates but I could be talked into a write in vote for a modification to the formula:

It might be easier to reduce the "7490" by 3% as most people hate arbitrary constants. But I'll give Brewcipher a chance to speak before making a rash decision . . .

So the 60 minute addition has been dropped, correct? If we dont have to lose any IBUs to make way for that, I say upping the target to 63 will keep the recipe as its been voted on, while taking away the hassle of trying to squeeze in some sort of charge at 60. The difference between 63 and 61 is minor IMO any way.
