100-250.. I have been put on a temporary beer purchasing probation. It's probably for the best.

When you retire you can drink 100 in a week. Of course you won't be able to do anything else so you probably won't, but the fact you can gives something to look forward to.

Around 80. I usually make it down to around the 40 to 50 range and then have to travel and make a run while on the trip.

Despite my best efforts, I have between 50 - 100 bottles plus half a case of 16 oz. home brew hanging around. I rarely drink more than one or two beers a day and not even every day, but I get caught up in the saying from American Pickers - "the time to buy something...is when you see it". And somewhat in fairness to myself, I've been disappointed more than once thinking a store will have a particular beer next time I come in, so I do tend to grab what I want to try when I see it. I do try and drink the things that don't age well immediately, but even that can be a losing battle. Although I keep an inventory, I don't really pay much attention. I'll be New Beer Sunday-ing several bottles from Pretty Things, for instance, and I have a bottle of SA Thirteenth Hour that I think has evolved to the point of free-roaming about the house. And I just remembered - there's a bottle of Otto in Oak somewhere on the shelf...I wonder where he's gone...

And we'll be heading up to Maine for vacation next week, so that means more Allagash, Rising Tide, and other Maine goodness will be coming home.

There's no right or wrong way - it's beer and it well get consumed when it does. Sometimes that means it may be less than optimal, but I do try drink the "drink me fresh" stuff right away. I've been lucky enough that I've yet to find a beer that I would say was absolutely horrible simply because it has hung around a while.

I voted 50-100. I have too much. I only ever drink one beer a day and I probably like buying as much as I do drinking. I only buy multiples of my go to beers (mostly Sierra Nevada) and I try to drink my IPAs quickly but even so I will still end up with a few that get too much age on them. I have a nearly four year old bottle of Big Bad Baptist that has been kept in the refrigerator the whole time I have had it. It may even be too old now. Gotta quit buying so much.

50-100 but closer to 100. Around 60% is bottles I'm intentionally aging (or at least that won't be hurt by aging). I need to drink down the other half soon because next month I'm going to Minneapolis and will be bringing back a good amount of beer I can't get in MD - hopefully a bunch of Surly and TG IPA's. Shortly after that Oktoberfest season will begin and I have every intention of drinking several 12-packs of Sierra Nevada's 2016 collaboration if it's even close to as good as last year's.

In my cellar, about 30 Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts or Wild Ales fermented with Brett that are intended to be aged.

Other than that, I'm so OCD on freshness, I typically try to stay between the 10-20 beer mark. If I'm buying from a local can release and the age of the beer is a day or two, I'm more comfortable getting closer to the high end of my comfort zone knowing I have some time. But generally, those are the beers that don't last more than a week or 2 in my fridge.

Worst case scenario, my count creeps up, we call up the friends and neighbors and find something to celebrate. Easy fix.

I'm at just over 100 right now but I'm the only one in my house that drinks the beer. I'm trying to get my stash into the 26 to 50 range so I have some work to do!

0-12 bottles that I'm hanging on to for future drinking. Don't have the budget or space in my apartment to store much more than that.

500+, mostly homebrew (Belgians, barleywine, RIS, applewine, mead, cyser) along with some commercial stuff (Westy 12, Samichlaus 2005-2014, BCBS, some big DFH, RR sours, etc).

I generally share it with friends, so bring big bottles to BBQs, or bring them out of the cellar when people are over.

I try to keep it to about two weeks of beer at any given time. right now I have about thirty bottles & cans to drink now and about half a dozen things I'm sitting on. everyday I don't buy a beer is like a little moral victory.

    I voted 50-100.

About 65 bottles are cellared in my climate controlled storage unit and about 30 bottles are in my fridge in the garage at my parent's house. I actually slowed down. I'll pick up a bottle or two maybe every month (cellared). But for pale ales and IPA's and some local stouts, I'll pick up a few bottles a week.

Ball park, about 400. Most are cases of various vintages of Bigfoot, Bell's Expedition and TCOA...proven cellar dwellers. I make an effort to pull and crack something from my cellar at least once a week, but it just keeps growing...lol

Looks like I'm in the minority that actually drink their beer. I'd guess I've got about 20 bottles/cans in the fridge, and about half are from a recent trade box that I received. Out of those 20, I only have 3 or 4 that I'm actually aging.

Voted 100 - 250 which seems to be the sweet spot in the poll currently. Actual count is around 140 with 2/3rd of that being 16 oz or less format. Definately trying to wittle that down but somebody keeps putting out new beers every week. My tastes change and some beers dont have the same appeal to me as they used to so I keep working to clear things up. Ideally I would like to have about 20-30 cellarables and a revolving 20-30 daily drinkers.

I stand on more shifting moral ground. Every day I don't buy beer is a lost opportunity.

I've seen sentiments along this line a lot in this thread. Just because people have cellared beers doesn't mean they don't drink them. Sure there are some people who just collect beers to have them, but not everyone is like that.

For me, one of the most common issues I run into is a seasonal/limited release that I like, but that I don't want to drink right away - like a BBA scotch ale or barley wine being released over the spring/summer. They're limited so I have to buy it when its out, but I'll generally stash it until the fall/winter months when I much prefer to crack something heavier like a BA stout or barley wine.
