My 2 pennies... There's no way they didn't know this beer was infected. With the resources they have I'm positive they are testing extensively not only taste but probably also on a microbial level before packaging. They knew. They probably assumed (correctly) that selling the product and dealing with the fallout was a better proposition then canceling or partially canceling the release of their most well known product. Having said that... The cherry rye and reg I had were freaking phenomenal :grinning:

Just popped a bottle dated 11/5, while not sour, defiantly off and on its way to a full infection. Metallic taste thought, bordering cherry taste to it. Purchased from Binnys on Black Friday

What did Cherry Rye have to do with 2015?

Don't know about rye, but many of the 2015 BCBS and variants ended up tasting like cherries...

I believe you that you enjoyed the taste, but did it taste different to you than the normal BCBS flavor profile? I'm curious because that head alone looks suspect. That's like a solid inch of foam, which is about an inch higher than the typical head on even a strong pour of BCBS. It also looks like there is some pretty significant foam left in the bottle after the pour. Both would be extremely unusual for this beer.

Drinking one right now. Happy to report it's not infected.

When I saw the head, that's what I thought, too, but this was the 6th of 6 bottles I had, and it fit the "normal" BCBS flavor profile to me: strong bourbon, vanilla and some dark chocolate coming forward as it warmed.

If I had 6 more bottles that tasted like this, I'd drink one a day for the next six days.

Just cracked a bottle of 2015 BCBS, 13.7% purchased in Phoenix, AZ and was tasting fantastic. Sorry I didn't get the bottling date- but good bottles are out there.

I don't think I have ever seen a bourbon county pour with that much head.....

Well that's good news for you! Were the other 6 equally carbed like that? I'm wondering if it's possible for bacteria to generate excess carbonation without necessarily affecting the flavor. I wouldn't think so but am definitely not an infection expert. It's just surprising because I've opened dozens and dozens of BCBS over the years and have never seen one look like that. This does seem to be an unusual bug though, so maybe that's a possibility?

No, not that "fluffy" (if that's the correct term). But I was finely attenuated to infection - my original plan was to hold that bottle until 2017, but I cracked it earlier than I wanted to because of all the infection talk, and I posted here because I got zero infection in this bottle.

My bad... Regal rye..... which had cherries in it.... is that all or would you like to continue being a know it all today?

Can confirm that the 11/5 is sadly on its way out. Starts off with the typical bcbs aromas and flavors, but unfortunately finishes with an overly ashy and excessively bitter and metallic bite. If you're sitting on 11/5, I would strongly recommend drinking or cooking with asap.

You can't just go by the date, as a number of barrels are bottled in a day. There have been a number of examples of this, where several folks reported problems with a particular date, and others reported theirs were fine. That said, some dates seem worse than others.
