Did anyone reach out to DC Brau about this? I didn't pick up any because of the comments in this thread, but if I paid $19/sixer for that garbage i'd be furious.

Would you guys please stop talking about DC Brau? This is the Aslin thread.

My 2 cents; 3 out of 4 have been good albeit very similar to OTWOA IMO. One can was a little less carbed, more bitter, and had less aroma than the others.

I've had 4 do far and all have been good. Picked up at brewery.

Nah, honestly I think I've decided I don't like their stuff enough to bother with them any more for the most part. I'll probably grab a growler of Wings in the future as long as I can taste it first. But there are too many other great options these days.

Me to. I had high hopes for them when they started but rarely buy their beers anymore in cans or on draft. They need to focus on quality control and their canning process. Once that is improved start brewing some new smaller batch ipas that are canned(doesn't have to always be doubles/imperials). I think if word gets out they have improved and release some new popular styles people like me would get excited about their brewery again.

Going to be out in the Manassas area this weekend. Sounds like maybe Bad Wolf is the best bet? Went to Old Bust Head not too long after they first opened and the beer was not good. However, Smoke & Barrel seems to be putting their stuff on tap as of late (looks like they have their DIPA, Sonic Charm, on right now), so maybe they've improved?

I actually prefer Heritage to Bad Wolf in Manassas. Both aren't great compared to other NOVA breweries, but I've had some horrible beers at Bad Wolf while Heritage beers are usually just over carbed and bitter. If you can you're better off making the 30 minute drive to Ocelot

If you homebrew check out Jays, if you're in Old town check out Monza's for a decent tap list.

Here's a vote for Bad Wolf over Heritage (and Old Busthead). I've been to all three, and preferred the vibe and beer at Bad Wolf. Then again, I'm a peace loving liberal, so I would probably avoid a beer called "Freedom Isn't Free", no matter how good it is (and it's not).

Plus, the last time I was in Heritage, I asked for a taste of a beer before buying a full pour, and the bartender replied "That's what the flights are for."
    Not cool.

    Anybody know anything about

Spoke too soon. Just cracked another space reaper and it tastes like absolute shit. How is quality from can to can in the same six pack so rangy? Smh.

El Dorado and Bavaria Mandarina hops. Another juice bomb i assume. Single IPA. No fruit and other flavorings added, I assume. Haven't seen what it looks like yet.

Johann the Mango Thief will be the Mango and Vanilla DIPA and the Blueberry & Vanilla will be a bringing sexy back variant - two other, separate beers.

If anyone from DC is going out to Aslin tomorrow or Saturday and could bring me back some crowlers, could you shoot me a PM? I'll make it worth your while.

Now I know I'm not crazy--just opened the 5th can of my sixer of Space Reaper and it's fairly normal, much more in line with the growler fill I got. But really, that's 1 decent can out of 5 so far, with 3 being undrinkable and 1 being nearly so. Still too heavy on the malt, but there's a pleasant piney dankness in there.

However, now that I had all those bad cans, I'm sensitized to the elements of what developed into the off-tastes (kind of a rubber smell and a hint of rancid butter), but it's pretty subtle. I'm just glad I don't have to dump this one.

the cans from the most recent otwoa batch have uniformly been great, at least.

@Grimm_Artisanal_Ales - thanks for the overview! recent transplant from NYC, so it's cool to know how your beer got to the city and what part Beltway has in it. especially given DC's quirky laws (or lack thereof), any plans to distribute IPA kegs or cans in the District? could use more Afterimage in my life...

Anyone know if there are still BA My Only Friend bottles available at Ocelot?

From what I've read/heard, the lines haven't been nearly as bad as they were a few weeks ago. They started pre-filling crowlers and it sounds like they are keeping more beer for in-house pours.
