Was just at Tuckahoe on Saturday. It was my 2nd time visiting the brewery, and I was actually pretty disappointed with what I tried. My sister in law on the other hand was blown away by the sours they had on tap. Unfortunately, that's not really my thing.

Haven't been to Glasstown in a while, but remember their beers being pretty good.

Cape May might be a little further away, but it's definitely the best of the bunch. Been there several times, and haven't been disappointed yet.

If your in AC, Wingcraft is awesome. Always a great beer selection and the food is very good.

Unless you like sours or non-hoppy IPA's cape may is not where U wanna go. Stick with Glasstown. Big breakfast, you're coconuts, stout with no name, DDH 856 DIPA should be back on as well, some of the best beers you'll get in all of NJ. Def in the south.

Only like 45 minutes away from Glasstown. Wish they would put their weekly tap list on Facebook etc. Not an iPa fan but big breakfast, coconuts and any stout would be something I would drive up for. Just don't want to deal with summer traffic to see a bunch of IPAs and than drive home.

    OK, so...

I didn't end up making it to Tuckahoe so I reserve judgment on them for now. As for the other two:

Glasstown: I have lots of ties to Central Jersey and visit Kane and Carton often. Glasstown isn't on that level, yet, but it has a chance to be a destination brewery in South Jersey. Atmosphere, employees were great, and You're Coconuts is among the best coconut porters I've had, and I am a big coconut fan. I wasn't blown away by 609 or 856, but both were solid, and I actually felt the El Dorado Pale Ale was the best hoppy beer I had. If these guys can dial in the hops further, they'll be set. And the fact that they plan to can within the next year or so pretty much assures I'll be back.

Slack Tide: Great design of the tap room and Bell Buoy, the Inquirer's top new beer, is nice, but I think the ceiling here is lower than Glasstown's. The beers were mostly solid, except for the pale ale that was a monster malt bomb, but it's hard for me to see a place pushing blondes and wheat ales expanding far beyond its local clientele. It's almost a shame because I wish more NJ breweries did crowlers. I left with three, btw, I'm just not sure if/when I'll be back, whereas I'm virtually certain I'll return to Glasstown at some point.

609 was nothing special to me, but I've had Danky Kong and Smith & Wood Foundry Ale. Both favorites of mine. Glasstown is worth a visit.

Finally made it to Glasstown yesterday. The hype for Coconuts and Danky Kong is legit. The stout is killer too. Awesome place in the strangest location - reminds me of why I love the adventure aspect of being a craft beer drinker.

I stopped at Tuckahoe last week. Their beers are pretty inconsistent but I thought Where the Shadows Lie, a bourbon aged stout, was outstanding. I also want to try Cape May Brewing. I've had a couple of their offerings in bottles and was impressed.

Thinking of hitting up the newer Medford breweries this weekend.

Has anyone checked out Nale House / Lower Forge yet? What did ya think?

Take with grain of salt.. My buddy went to Lower Forge a few saturdays ago.. he said they had one beer on tap and it wasnt very good. Being new they probably just ran out.

My fiance' and I hit up Tonewood this past sat. I was disappointed the IPA was kicked but we liked the other beers we tried. Streaky, completely agree with your Tonewood thoughts.

I live in the area, Voorhees, and let me tell you there are a ton now. Probably 15 breweries within 15 minutes from my apartment. Some of the super new ones I have not been to but most are very drinkable and friendly places. Some better than others. Seems like they come in pairs now. While checking one out go two minutes away to the next one.
    In no real order

Flying Fish and Lunacy (Short drive)
    Berlin and Atco (Short Drive)
Three 3's and TomFoolery in Hammonton (about 50 yards from each other)
Actually these are all going right down Route 30 and if you start at Tonewood they are about 30-40 minutes total from them.

Spellbound and Village Idiot in Mt Holly (Short Drive)
There's more "pairings" but brain is not working to figure them out

    Cheers

You could pair Tonewood and Devil's Creek - only a few minutes from each other.

How are the Hammonton Breweries? This thread needs more threads!

Agreed with Devil's Creek (Haven't been there however). Tonewood was good.
Actually keep and eye on Three 3's They are very good. Especially if you like IPA. Pretty big system as well. Hammonton is "the blueberry capital of the world" and they make an awesome blueberry saison.
TomFoolery Is solid as well but much smaller system so base your tastes on that. They are coming out with a barrel aged something in bottles this weekend. Don't remember the specs of the top of my head.
Both have about 10 beers on last time I was there about a month ago. With 3's having a little more.

We hit Tomfoolery and Three 3s on the way to OC a few weeks ago.
Tomfoolery was ok, glad we went there first because they would
have been a let down after Three 3s--very impressed with everything we tried.

I visited both Three 3's and Tomfoolery. One warranted a complete review on my website, Tomfoolery didn't.

    That's my barometer. :grinning:

Not sure if BA will take it down, but here goes:

    http://www.hopsandhorns.com/breweries/three3sbrewing

Also, keep in mind that my perspective comes from that of a mid-level beer nerd. So for craft beer rooks, it's a great place. For someone expecting Heady Topper level IPA's, not so great.

It's a good start for the brewery though and has room for improvement.
