Good afternoon, all! Happy New TIPA Sunday, and a big shout-out to @cavedave for another fantastic start to the festivities! First off, I have to admit that I got this Stone Ruin Ten only because I've never had a beer bottle that featured luminescent radium paint. (That's the stuff they used on watch dials that caused cancer in the workers who licked the tips of their paint brushes. Not to start any new urban legends...) And now, without further ado (BS?), on to the beer.

I got an incredible burst of pine-sap aroma as soon as I popped the cap. A harbinger of things to come? We shall see. Beautiful pour, clear dark amber in color with a long-lasting, slightly off-white head and lots of spotty lacing:

Aromas and flavors of pine, citrus peel, and caramel. Bitter, slightly dry finish, with a little lingering pine resin and orange zest on the palate. Very well balanced. I could drink this all day, with the alcohol (10.8%) hidden as well as it is behind the pine and citrus. In summary, this is one outstanding brew, as I have come to expect from Stone.

    4.39/5 rDev +2.1%

    Prost!

Happy Sunday NBS players. Another beautiful summer day here on the island and all that humidity is largely gone. A lazy Sunday for myself and I'm just relaxing watching the mets game and may hit the beach in a bit. A pretty crazy week with all the shootings, and the reverberating demonstrations. I just hope that any men and women in uniform stay safe out there.

My new beer today is an ESB, from Rockaway brewing in queens/li city ny. 6.4% abv and no canning date.

A soft golden amber pour. Hazy with a lingering white head. The nose is subtle with malts, mash, and sugars. Malty and clean upfront with a slightly bitter hop finish. Nice flavor notes of honey, sweet sugars, oats, bread, caramel, and vanilla. The mouth feel is fairly moderate and the flavors linger nicely. It's pretty malt forward yet it really stays crisp, clean, and refreshing.

Overall, nothing mind blowing but a pretty good and easy drinking beer. I love the tall boy format too. I'm in the 3.5/3.7 range,

I love the namesake of this beer. My favorite dates are the ones she doesn't order anything too expensive.

    Arcadia Ale's Cheap Date.

Look: It pours an opaque yellow-orange with a nice frothy white head (1 cm in thickness) up top. The pour was not too aggressive as I only leveled out the snifter at the tail end, and left about an ounce in the bottle. Head retention is modest, but good, with decent lacing.

Aroma: The aroma has a citrusy punch to it. Other notes include pine hops, orange, and biscuit malts buried at the back. While the citrus is nice, the rest of the aroma feels lacking.

Taste: The flavor profile works through citrus, orange, pine and sticky hops, and a biscuit malt base. The taste has a bit of an overarching lactic, sour feel to it. No single note stands out in the forefront, as this beer remains well balanced and painfully tame.

Feel: As the beer hits the palette, it expands a bit, which feels reminiscent of a champagne de bier. Otherwise the carbonation is a bit abrasive and forward, giving this beer a rough feel. A medium consistency gives this beer good body and feel otherwise.

Overall: A meh beer. The mouth feel is certainly interesting. Overall, Cheap Date is certainly kept at a session-able level, but not something that would be too fun drinking throughout a session. The label art and beer name are fun.

    Hey guys,

I know its been awhile since I've been around, going back to work as well as growing my youtube channel has taken up a lot of the time I used to spend here! I will be back though, Things just need to settle down. Anyways, my new beer today comes from italy and is a pilsner of sorts! it was listed here as a german pilsner but I think the flavor profile is a mix between a wit and a bohemian pilsner. Definitely not a bad beer but not worth there premium price!

Appearance - this beer pours a hazy wheat color with 2 fingers of off white head that slowly fade leaving a t thick layer of bubbles over top of the glass. Carbonation seems very lively!

Aroma - floral/leafy hops a wheat zest some light fruit like apple and pear, some clove and light spice in the background also a little bready!

Taste - Very floraly up front followed by some light apple, clove and a some biscuit malt

Feel - Light but almost creamy at the same time moderate carbonation feeling.

Overall - Not a whole ton to say here, its a decent light summer beer but definitely not something I will buy again. Its not worth the premium!

Clown Shoes The Barista. It is a breakfast Brown Ale from Massachusetts. It is 8.5% ABV. This is fairly new as it was released for the first time in January 2016. I had not had it until now. Lots of tan foam on top of that dark brown color. This is supposed to be brewed with Espresso and oatmeal. Well, I get some oatmeal but not much in the way of Espresso. However it is quite sweet and if you were to drink this for breakfast the sweetness would probably give you an adrenaline rush to get you prepared for the rest of the day. I waited until after 2:00 pm.

Well good afternoon fellow beer lovers from a very overcast and wet central NH. I do believe the last time I have actually seen the sun was watching it set from around the campfire on Wednesday evening while still in Maine. How ever we do need the rain here at home and even with what we have had in the last 2 days were still way below where we should be for this time of the year. I did mange a few beer stops on my trip to Maine. Bissell Bros. Foundation, Allagash, Austin St., Boothbay Brewing, Ebenezers / Lively Brewing to name a few. Found some really great hidden gems such as the Filthy Rich Stout at Ebenezers which was really everything a great stout should be but sadly it was draft only. Another standout was Cryptos a triple IPA at 11.2% that drank way to smooth at Boothbay Brewing but once again draft only. So if you get to Maine and have the time you should check these smaller breweries out. So now on to my new beer for today. This one I brought back from Maine and it is Diavoletto from Bissell Brothers.

This beer pours a very light but nicely hazy golden color into my tulip glass. There is a minimal head that froms on top and disappears as fast as it poured. I must add this is a session beer at only 3% ABV.
There is a good nose with the mixture of hops coming through even for a session ale. Not much else coming through.
The taste is mild but with enough flavor to be enjoyed. Hints of tropical fruits and a nice twang of bitterness in the back of the mouth.
The carbonation is good and the mouthfeel is pleasant.
I'm not a big fan of session beers but this would probably be in my top 3 if I had to choose. A great drinking summer beer with enough taste to keep you interested.

poured from a 22 oz. bottle, fresh as hell but I have no proof
great orange hazy beer with a sticky white head ( still around after 45 minutes! )
bold tropical fruits, described here as a pungent blend of orange , grapefruit and some pineapple
the lime zest comes in and coats my tongue. I like it! some may not.
it's like a corvette version of a beer with a wedge of lime
the tart works for me real well, no noticeable alcohol and tangy
medium feel, crisp and clean tho. good offering from pipeworks and tired hands!
I want to see how good PatrickCT is, can you name that ball signature?

    Hey there, new beer lovers,

Got two new beers to throw at ya today - the one I just finished, and the one I've been drinking since Wednesday...

Pipeworks Emerald Grouper IIPA and Stone's Mocha IPA DIPA... lol

--> New Imperial India Pale Ale Sunday :grinning:
    [IMG] [IMG]
    This was really good...

My fear, when I see, "brewed with honey," is that the brew will either be too thick, too sweet, too syrupy, or too... "honey" :astonished:...
This beer is none of that. I found the "honeyed" touch to be perfect, especially on my finishes, as if a golden pearl of honey sweetness melted across my tongue.
The subtle sweetness and malts of the beer still take the typical big IPA backseat to a massive hop presentation.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Citra and Mosaic are probably my favorite hops that I can name and identify, and this beer has both (and Simcoe).
Belongs in that category of lean and clean, but somehow still soft citrusy DIPAs I am particularly fond of, and this beer hits all points.
Softly plush and carbonated, but with a clean wash of citrus and a taut, bitter close.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Okay, so that was really great. Now let's talk about the beer in hand, Stone's Mocha IPA...
    Been drinking these since Wednesday...
I'm on six-pack number two, and completely impressed/delighted.
I feel like, just as Founders knocked one outta the park with Sumatra Mountain Brown, so, too, has Stone, with Mocha IPA...
I might even like this a little more... :grimacing:
Superb brew. Features Cascade, Amarillo, and Citra hops, plus "pure dark chocolate" ("cacao" ewww! :stuck_out_tongue: lol) and "golden-roasted" coffee.
Super-smooth body courtesy of rich malt profile; the chocolates and coffee meet the citrusy hops in the middle, and meld together in a most agreeable fashion.
9% abv is no joke, but this stuff is seriously drinkable...
Alright, playas, that's all I got - see ya over in WBAYDN...

Cheers - here's to new beer in your hand...

Time to investigate a Missouri brewery that I've only heard rumblings about. While they produce and distribute inside my home state, I've never seen a single one of their beers on my side of the state. Fortunately for me, I was passing through their home town and picked up a can. I didn't bother to read the style, as I figured it would be a good way to experience a local beer. Turns out it's an Imperial Milk Stout brewed with Coffee Beans. Ohh, this is sounding good. It's been too long since I've had a good coffee stout. Let's get into this. I can't wait. Without further ado, here's:

Rock Bridge Brewery Co.'s Option #2.

Look: It pours black with a caramel colored head a little less than a centimeter thick. A little lackluster with the head, but otherwise good. Head retention is modest, with a bit of lacing left behind.

Aroma: Boom. Here we go. The aroma is busting at the seams with notes of caramel, coffee, roasted and toasted malts, and a zing of lactose sugar that cannot be missed. While it smells dark and hearty, the lactose sugar keeps it a little lighter and much more playful. Very pleasing aroma.

Taste: Anything that comes in a 16oz can better be good, and this one delivers. The flavor is clearly milk stout with notes of lactose sugar throughout the flavor profile. Additional notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate, roasted and toasted malts, and finally coffee set this beer up nice. Despite the leaning towards sweet, sugary notes, the beer remains balanced and easy to drink. It may be on the sweeter side for some folks. Personally, it's incredibly enjoyable. At 9.2%, it is on the harder hitting side of the ABV spectrum, but the alcohol is hidden incredibly well. In fact, it's so smooth and easy to drink it may be a bit dangerous.

Feel: Mouth feel is great for a milk stout. It has a medium consistency with a velvety, smooth texture. While it could be thicker, the current thickness keeps this beer easy to drink from a glass or the can, and provides the well balanced flavor notes a controlling, balanced avenue to your taste buds.

Overall: A very fun brew. The notes are great, especially the coffee. It remains balanced and easy to drink. Normally, milk stouts seem lackluster, thin, and watery, but this beer seems to fight this stereotype making it a fun beer to drink. At 9.2% and in a 16oz format, this beer can be a bit dangerous, but it's still plenty tasty and easy to share, or consume alone.

Glad to hear that the Barke is okay. I had the same sense about all the new malts coming out of Weyermann a few years back -- including the bohemian floor-malted dark -- only to find out that they had a strong 'specialty malt' taste that struck my palate as unnecessarily muddled. I have since, in my brewing, reverted almost exclusively to their base malts [which have never disappointed]. I get the sense that Weyermann is cashing on the 'craft' tendency to always try the new and 'exciting.' Judging by the beers they make at their pilot brewery, this would very much seem to be the case.

New Berliner Weissbier Sunday (week 594)

Greetings fellow NBSers from on the ridge in Mid Hud Val, NY. Beautiful weekend, cooler than its been, and the much needed rain fell at night yesterday. Crazy busy morning, the highlight was uniting two recycled bicycles with folks who are going to do the minor repairs needed and put them into service. Reuse is tons better than recycle. Sunny out now, and plan to go out and do round two of my no gasoline "lawn" maintenance program. In preparation I am drinking a beer purported to be a Berliner Weissbier with berries, from New Holland, called Incorrigible. Kind of a disappointing beer, a bit too resiny and sweetarty, not very refreshing, strange looking kinda more like a sparkling rose' wine than a beer, and sorta disjointed smell and taste. Read the whole story here:

Greetings, fellow NBSers, and thanks to @cavedave for getting us underway.

It's a partly sunny day in Spokanistan. Friday and early yesterday were rainy, overcast and quite cool, but things are back on track now for this time of year. I had no new beers at all this week for once, instead drinking cans of 3-Way during the week and a bottle of Waldo last night.

Today I've nothing new that isn't a big dark beer, so I jumped into the deep end of the pool.

I am frankly amazed at the subtlety of this beer. I've had a number of barrel aged beers at this point, many of which I've thoroughly enjoyed, but the smoothness of this puts it in a class by itself. Much as I love Fremont's various barrel aged beers, especially the variants of KDS like Spice Wars, this seems more refined than any other such beer I've ever had.

Probably my only new beer of the day
    though never say never.

By the way, the up and down arrows when near where I'm typing with my massive fingers are tremendously aggravating. The new upgrade is pretty much the death knell of my dinosaur PC, and I don't have the greatest data limit on my phone, so my NBS participation will seem to have some stark limits for the time being. It's nothing personal!

Being a huge fan of the base beer I was supremely disappointed in this one. Lots of licorice/acrid flavor and almost no spice/chocolate that made the original great.

I think it's the alcohol-induced condition where things fly out of your mouth that seem well formed and intelligent to you but really don't hold up to outside scrutiny. Many of us have suffered from this condition at one time or another.
