Beachwood BBQ Beer Releases Thread

How's the crowd to grab a drink looking? Not still crazy packed, is it? I'm hoping for a lull before the evening dinner rush.

 

the morning wasn't TOO crazy. the fact that the line to get in got killed within 15 minutes was interesting compared to other years.

 

It's not too crazy here, they have flights set up. The Rare flight is just tasty.

One of the mellower Beachwood Anniversary events. Meaning, it was amazing. I don't know why beer geeks choose to attend the events they choose to attend.

I was able to grab some about 9ish. Didnt stick around so idk now. I'm glad not many else gobble up barleywines, I'll take them as much as I can. Bummer to grab a table was almost an hr, GF didn't want to wait.

 

I had the chance to drop by around 6ish today. Got to see those folks doing flips and that one guy hammer a nail into his nose. As for the beers I tried the Barrelogenesis, 8 Buffalo and Mrs. Stoutfire. All were pretty damn delicious while the Barrel reigned supreme. I can't recall the last time I had a barrel aged barleywine but this one was pretty smooth, I even picked up a bottle of it.

It was one of the more chill brewery anniversaries I've been to.

 

Anyone know if Genesis will hit distro?

 

Glad to hear that it was chill this year. It has not been that chill the last few years. Strange that for last year and the year prior, you had to show up an hour before opening to get in the first seating. That was the main thing that kept me away this year. I'd love to see this become the trend.

CitraHolic on draft has arrived at a few locations in the OC area. Wonder if this batch was brewed at the HB location?

 

Have they finished whatever construction was needed? I was under the impression things would be up and running late 2016 or early 2017.

 

No. Construction is ongoing. But they have been brewing there.

 

Heard MM to be released in Aug or early September. Also will become a more frequent beer (like IPA's including bottles). They spoke of a possibility for a special MM release at LB only when that happens. Probably sometime next year.

Also they have started brewing in HB. They have had an issue with taste differences coming out of HB and are working out why that is occurring and trying to correct it.

 

Hopefully it's not infected with left over Beach City beer.

 

From what I gather, its due to the equipment, as they are using the same ingredients. So possibly the ghost of beach city lives in the new beachwood beer.
