I'm in town just for the day for FO pickup and general beer-related activities, so I'll probably do the line thing because why not?

But getting in line before 8:30, let alone at the arsecrack of dawn, seems ridiculous to do on a regular basis.

Been 3 times. After the 3rd time I said what the f am I doing here on a Saturday morning? Each week that I was there the line cutting got worse. I did not go when Henry said enough of the line cutting and drinking in the lot. I'm sure the line cutting has slowed down but still? I just find my Sat time is more important than the next can ipa. There are a lot more better ipa's out there. Been there and tried Monks ipa's. They are really good. If I really want more of their goodness then I would get back in line every other Saturday am. At 4am.

I prefer Monks. Its shorter to type. I'm old. Or maybe older than you. My time is short.

well, HPB growlers are a great suggestion actually. i would argue that all of HPBs IPAs are better than anything Monkish has done yet.

I love Monkish, happy for their success, and would love to try more of these IPAs but for me this level of effort is not worth it. for some people it is and that's fine. I only have so much free time in my life, and standing in a parking lot for 3 hours is not high on my list of things i'd find worthwhile. if they start doing online sales i'll buy some

the last release i went later in the day to just try some on tap. it was decent. but it didn't make me wish i had waited in line for 3 hours.

there's so much stuff to buy out there it's ridiculous

go to trader joes and get some Accumulated Knowledge if you want something similar.

This is one of the silliest line policing methods I have heard of. "Hey guys hurry up and get here they are passing a marker to us to write down what number in line we are" "Nah I'll just grab my own marker" "How come there are 20 people 1st in line?"

What they really should do is get a deli number thingy. That way people don't even need to wait in line... Grab a number, the wait will be 45 minutes, go do something else, return and get your cans.

That can work as well. I think the point I'm trying to make is that we should be able to police ourselves, and since we're so ***** foot about speaking out and dealing with confrontation, some sort of self numbering system works.

Don't most deli numbering systems reset at 100?

but then people will be in line waiting for the moment they break out the deli number thing (and line cutting)

it's pretty hilarious that people are still talking about ways to remedy the line when really the only way to do it is online sales

What is hilarious is that people are complaining about line cutting when there haven't been any complaints recently. I think you guys just like beating a dead horse.

^Last release had a huge amount of people bitching about line cutters and the line was probably the furthest back. Mayhaps the reason why it hasn't been talked about lately is that it's been about two weeks since the last release.

I'm suggesting a treatment to the problem of line cutting. You're talking about the treatment to the problem that there's even a fucking line several hours before a can release. Different things.

I'm also simply suggesting, since we can't be bothered to, for the good of everyone, to not be a prick and cut with friends, that we find a new way to police the line without putting Monkish out and having to get there early for this nonsense.

    Well, shit.

But at least that line would be quick moving?

i'm not complaining about line cutting. i'm complaining about lines period

actually i'm not complaining, just stating that i don't plan to wait in them, and would prefer if Monkish came up with a better system to avoid lines (i.e. online sales)

Is there anyone in this forum that personally saw or experienced massive line cutting at the last release?

Well I'll be in tropical Hilo waking up in the early am Saturday while they'll be a huge line in the parking lot at Monk(ish) waiting for the can release. That's how I'll be spending my time this Sat morning. Lol.

I saw some over on the other side of the line (since it makes the U shape in the parking lot) and it's a normal thing to see the line balloon up.

Ironically, those Hopheads folks complain about were also complaining about line ballooning up during the last release. While it hasn't been talked about on here since the last release, A simple suggestion to treat the problem before it happens is much better than having hindsight on the issue come Saturday afternoon.

What is it, an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

I agree with you. A productive discussion on ways to improve or prevent line cutting to grow, etc is much better than just complaining about lines, line cutters and how much you don't think Monkish IPAs are your style or preference.

We were in Maui about 2 months ago. MBC is great. Love the new brewery. Lots of great "other" Maui beers there. If you have a SS growler bring it and bring some of the Maui love back to the mainland. The Imp Coco Porter is good.
