I got the e-mail from them as well. That is good news. I'll be interested to what it says about those of us that discarded our bottles - I drank 3 that were bad, but took pictures of the back of the bottle with date/time stamp. It'd be nice to get those refunded, but I guess I could see why I might lose out on those.

Crap, I just saw 11/5 listed as a bad bottle...I thought that one was in the clear. :slight_frown: I had one just earlier this week and it was great. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up for the rest.

I'm sure this site/forum had some impact in bringing this issue to light (and helping them identify bad bottle dates). Thanks OP and everyone else for chiming in!

Well, I was happily mistaken...I had incorrectly logged my bottles in my spreadsheet as 11/5, but these were actually 11/6. :grinning: Unfortunately I still have 2 from 11/5 and 10 from 10/22 (along with 3 from this date that I already drank that were infected), all which are bad batches. I'll be getting my refund form out ASAP.

So there are 9 bad dates.

How many good bottling dates are there?

Not sure in total, but I have 11/6 and 11/9 that weren't included in the list of bad dates.

Goose Island Beer is recalling two more of its 2015 Bourbon County Brand Stout beers after confirming they were infected with a type of bacteria in the lactobacillus family, the second such recall the Chicago-based brewer has undertaken this year, the company said today.

Nine bottlings of its signature Bourbon County Brand Stout and all of its special-to-Chicago Proprietor's Bourbon County Brand Stout had traces of lactobacillus acetotolerans, a type of lactic acid that also produced off flavors in Goose Island's Bourbon County coffee stout and barleywine.

I think the most fascinating part of the article was the explanation of where they believe the lacto came from. The truck between fermentation and bottling? Huh, I never thought that would be it.

I had some infected 11/10 which isn't on their list either. I don't think that if you have a bottle date that's not on the list you are necessarily in the clear.

Kudos to GI! They are certainly standing behind their product. Many other breweries have taken the odd side in this type of situation.

Important info from the GI site:

I bought a case of the BCBS in Vermont and it's all from 10/21/15...so it's being recalled.

How many people actually have receipts back from last November?

Edit: I stand corrected - I must've assumed "proof of purchase" meant receipt. Good on Goose Island!

Pretty sad on GI's part they will only refund $15 for prop when 90% of the business in Chicago are price gouging non-chain stores that jacked it up 2-3 times MSRP....All future GI BCBS sales in Chicago should be exclusively through Binny's.
