Bottle Logic Brewing Thread

F.O. hitting L.A. spots today. WFDT had it and buddy got one, called me up telling me to get down there since I'm at most 5 minutes away, was told that they were sold out an hour ago...

Yeeeeah, I dislike it when beer reps just flat out lie. I get it, hook up the homies, but since I do live 5 minutes away it was my local beer spot. I'd rather be told "Yeah, but I only have a limited amount" or be up front about it, ya know. I'd understand more. Sort of makes me not be bothered when places do raffles or incentivize buying other bottle logic stuff.

 

I went at noon, and the beer guy flat out said he didn't know whether he'd be getting any. Pfffft.

 

that's funny. Noon is when he claimed that they only got a case in then and they all sold out. HA! Buddy called me around 12:50 or so. Told him to keep it covered so no one else could see it in the store.

 

Happens every year with every coveted release. I wish BL would just keep those spare bottles and do random "drink on site" bottle sales every few weeks/months. If you are lucky to be there on the right day you win.

My worst one was 2012 Dissident. Somehow was able to place an online order for my local bevmo, card charged, got confirmation email. Halfway through the work day I get a phone call from a bevmo employee that said it was a mistake in the system and he manually canceled my order. Pretty pissed, I called the near by wholefoods cheesemonger who said they just got their case and had 2 left. If I got there quick he'd put my name on one. I get that being the beer guy has perks, but fuck those shops (especially chains) who stash the majority of cases for several employees and friends.

 

I envy people who get to go through beer-dom never knowing stuff like this happens. smdh

 

I have an extra FO. If any of you asshats-in-training want to help dispose of it, I can meet a few of you at a pizza place in Fullerton this Saturday at noon.

Had B2 FO on draft during OC beer week @ Amazing Grapes (possibly not the final blend?) and really enjoyed it, but found it a touch too sweet. Cracked my first bottle this week and we all thought it was a bit too hot? Is that a bottle/draft comparison or more the final blend went more on the bourbon side?

 

Oh wow, I had the opposite reaction to bottle vs. draft vs. draft of the pre-final blend during beer week. Thought the beer week blend was a bit hot but once let to get to room temp was starting to get all that 'nilla up in your face. The final blend draft, I felt was a little more hot out the gate and the bottle was my favorite so far.

 

Exactly this, if anything was hot, it was every iteration on draft. FO was not hot at all out of the bottle.

 

FO b2 from the bottle has been the best so far, not hot at all, just pure marshmallow deliciousness.

I have a FO B1+ B2 tasting next weekend for my birthday, I'll let you all know how it goes.

What I actually can't understand are those that say they get a lot of vanilla. Drinking b1 final product off draft once, that partial one at Bruery Anniversary in 2015 and twice from bottles I never got a lot of vanilla. Not to the point where I would compare it to VR.

Batch 2 has been roughly the same for me. Draft and bottle...I got mostly barrel character hiding the vanilla. Bottle significantly better than draft but that is to be expected...still...not this vanilla bomb that others seem to find. I think my palette must be broke or something.

 

I didn't get much vanilla from draft either. Even after it warmed up a bit there was barely much of a difference. Have yet to crack open a bottle.

That is what I heard, but I haven't been lucky enough to try it at the dinner nor attend that one event that I guess had a keg of it. Ah well. Maybe I will luck into it one of these days without having to put forth much effort. =P

 

so what is the bottle count?

I feel like the mostra coffee FO had more vanilla than FO on draft did. Havent had it out of the bottle yet so I cant comment on that.
