If they come out with a variant that I want (and can find) I would buy that but not regular BCBS. BCBS is world class but a bit pricey...couple that with their handling of the regular infection and these 2 factors are, simply put, a turn off.

Thanks for the responses. Really curious to hear what Black Friday is like in 2016--I'm sure someone will fill us in. Suspect it will make its usual 2 hr appearance here at a few stores.

I am not an In Bev supporter but do like to experience "what is out there." I prefer good local options and like to support a local small store. However, not as a cherry picker, I would like to have one here and there to see what the experience is. I have only had about one/?two bottles of the regular every two years and maybe some tastes as shares. I would like to try one of the others given what folks say about it. I don't really feel like I am doing much to support the "evil empire." As @cavedave said, I won't stand in line. My local guy can get me anything but he is hard core anti In-Bev s no luck there--I respect him for that.

Locally we have Event Horizon, WW put out one (its ok), BBB not too hard to get, can score a few KBS but like to open a good one of these after a day of surfcasting in October. Come on down.

Have a great summer. REAL Oktoberfests and harvest ales around the corner!!!!!

If I can find a bottle this year, I will get it, just like last year.

I'm not getting any this year. I'm just over the whole boozy, candy bar in a bottle thing.

I have to confess that I will purchase whatever I can get my hands on. Between it being near impossible to find where I live and bottle limits why not. Last year was the first time I have ever seen it in a store. I am a stout person and when I do crack open a bottle it is always compared to other stouts being enjoyed at the same time with friends. It consistently comes out on top. At least for me.

I'll buy the same, which is only a few bottles. I picked up 5 total this year, 2 were consumed quickly and had no issue. Three in my cellar fit the dates for refund. Not sure if I will go through the effort to send in for the refund. I think that they had the appropriate response.

It seems like they will be "extra" careful next year, so I don't think it is a risk to purchase 2016 version.

If it involves a chase, I'll buy none. In my area the bottles were everywhere this year, gas station, grocery store.
    Cheap too:

I'll more than likely buy the same allotment I bought last year for this years release. I highly doubt that they will release another infected batch 2 years in a row.

If they do release infected bottles back to back I would imagine that someone will be looking for a new job.

I couldn't be happier about all the people who are proudly posting about how they will never buy a goose island product again. More bcbs for me!

But, for all of you acting all tough and starting your own boycotts, we'll need you to apply the same standard to every product you consume. Any time you consume any product that isn't what you hoped and aren't immediately made whole in a way you see fit, you'll need to permanently boycott every product made by that company. I expect that within a year, you'll be living on Ramen noodles and water...but since many of you have said the issue was one of principle, should be no problem for you. Good luck on your noble quest! Sorry we won't hear from you very much, since I'm sure your Internet will go down sometime in the next six months and it won't be immediately fixed to your satisfaction, so you'll have to drop your Internet service.

As a follow up, the whole bcbs mess this year has been a bummer, but it's part of life as a beer geek, you win some, you lose some. I've won a lot more with goose Island products than I've lost, so I'm still waiting with baited breath to find out where I can buy Gillian this summer.

It isn't really a free market economy when companies like InBev act the way they do. They lobby to facilitate legislation that inhibits growth of smaller competitive breweries (google stone bill), they use advertising power (that small brewers can't combat) to entice consumers away from small breweries, and they incentivize distributors to sell their product and not independent product. In other words, it's monopolistic behavior. Like many, you don't have to care that they do it. I just think it's important to point out that they very deliberately make the free market much less free.

As for the actual thread topic. I probably won't buy bcbs and I definitively won't wait in line for it.

I have no plans on chasing it down but I'll buy a few bottles if it shows up in local shops.

You would have a really reasonable point if small breweries didn't also help pass laws that provide them a competitive advantage against big breweries and aren't capitalized well enough to have similarly effective marketing...

Ironically, despite all the power you attribute to them and their tactics they have been losing market share badly for some years now and there are indications they are shifing their main focus from the US marketplace to Africa where there is considerably less competition.

Walmart does the same thing, most businesses with clout always push for more market share. Walmart has eliminated quite a few small business owners, why would anyone expect less because the commodity is beer and not TV sets, hardware and food? I don't blame businesses, they have to answer to share holders, if I don't agree I won't buy. I don't hold anything against those who boycott In Bev, I understand, but using thst logic places like Target, Walmart, and K Mart need to be on that list too.

Definitely wanna get the same amount this year, except they'll actually all be for me this time because I got em as gifts last year. And it's nice because I don't have to wait in a line!

I agree with you. Many businesses across many industries exhibit this type of behavior and it's an exhausting process (impossible really) to support the small guy all the time. I really want to avoid sounding like some radical treehugger, but I truthfully don't shop at the places you've listed either. I don't drive a car, blah blah blah. My original post was simply an attempt to demonstrate the contradiction in arguing that InBev is just another company in a "free market," when in fact they act against the principal tenets of a free market. As such, there are better ways to justify supporting them, which you have just done. Also someone mentioned that craft brewers do this too. I don't think the majority do, and I think only larger ones do. Otherwise I would be interested to see that some brewers producing 1000 bbls a year are lobbying against a company paying for super bowl ads.. I don't buy it (unless you're just talking about brewers association).

I'll buy it if I can find it. Hard stuff to track down as it usually sells out fast where I used to live in Florida.
