First time posting on new beer Sunday! Thought this beer deserved a spotlight because it's excellent and had no actual reviews...

Wicked Weed Permeo from their Canvas series. Bottled 5/27/16 and purchased about one week ago at The Funkatorium. Review follows:

    4.48/5 rDev +0.7%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Pours a golden light orange with quickly dissipating thin white head. Big smell of lychee, passionfruit and apricot fills the air as I'm pouring. A closer smell yields more intense lychee, wood notes and funk. Taste follows with fruit forward punch followed by lingering tartness, passionfruit and sugar. Moderate carb and overall quite good!

    Sunday Cheers NBS!

It's around. At $20+ a bottle, I haven't pulled the trigger on either the regular or barrel version. It's just a Ninkasi brew, not worth the price, IMHO.

    New Triple IPA Sunday

Manayunk Sir Dank A Lot Triple IPA

No canned on date. Took a risk getting it as I don't recall seeing it at the bottle shop before. Hoping it's not past its prime.

It's an unfiltered triple IPA from Manayunk Brewing, part of its Hip Hop IPA series. It's brewed with simcoe, equinox and chinook hops and 2-row, carapils and victory grain, with 66 IBUs and a 10.2% ABV.

Pretty cool can art on this one. It's got a spray can that says "drink local" that I kinda like.

Sir Dank A Lot pours a vibrant, hazed, light orange color with two fingers of thick near-white head that leaves heavy rings of lacing. Quite the looker.

Reserved aroma of pineapple, peach skins, a touch of melon, a little white pepper and some malt sweetness. Not particularly dank or piney.

Sweet and delicate up front upon tasting, with similar light tropical notes, that pepperiness again mid-palate, and then a very strong hop bitterness in the aftertaste, as well as a slight, but off-putting nuttiness. It's slight enough that you can almost ignore it, but it's definitely there.

Somewhat light bodied for an imperial IPA, with a moderately creamy mouthfeel.

Pretty good overall, but with all the world-class DIPAs and TIPAs available these days, not something I'm likely to go out of my way to find. Would like to try it fresh on tap.

Saw Ghostbusters this weekend. Of course, it wasn't as good as the classic, but it was fun enough. Enjoy your Sundays BAs.

I don't think that's true. At least, that's the very first time I've heard that. You do have to register the beer, but that's just a paperwork filing and paying a fee. Anybody with a license can register a beer. For example, if I talked Troegs into selling me a trailer load of beer, and I trucked it out here, I would just pay the state to list each individual beer. I used to work at a local bar here, and we would sometimes run down to Oregon and pick up beers that weren't in distro in WA. We paid the listing fee for every beer. Yup, every one, we never, ever "forgot" to pay the state. No sir!:flushed: IIRC, we were the first place in WA to pour Boneyard, using that very method.

Lost Nation, The Wind - A gose aged on grapefruit, re-fermented with Brett and then dry-hopped.
Tart, but very low astringency and low Brett funk (my wife even had a few sips). The grapefruit is prominent.
This is a dry, refreshing treat.

I once read that Les Paul invented the self-named guitar to give himself something to do while laid up in a hospital after being in a car accident. Imagine if that crash had never happened? What would Jimmy Page have had to play?

Well, I've heard it from multiple sources. Maybe it's if it's going to be an actual, bottled or canned shelf beer in a store it's different than bringing in kegs, though I would think that would fall afoul of the whole distributor thing.

BTW, feel free to bring some Boneyard kegs to Spokane anytime. Only time I've had anything from them has been RPM when at a particular restaurant in Olympia. Growler Guys got a wild hair up their ass and brought RPM here, but I wound up sending a crowler of that to my target in the last NBS BIF and didn't get any for myself.

I humbly return to NBS after an extended hiatus of no real reason except for ennui & weekend travel. I CAN only hope that I will be welcomed back into the fold.

I began the day with one that I was shocked to discover that I had NEVER reviewed until now:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/222/695/?ba=woodychandler#review

I then followed it up with one of its offshoots:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/222/211562/?ba=woodychandler#review

and you need not worry if it is really me, because I CAN't say enough about this one:

Am I done? Perish the thought! I am just getting started on this auspicious Central PA holiday (717 Day, our area code). In fact, I raise a toast to the jagov that inspired The CANQuest (tm) in the first place, NickD717, a PA transplant to the Bay Area! I miss his jabs & jibes.

Great entries so far today for NBS. I hope mine stacks up well against them.

Bum's Beach Wheat from Ore Dock Brewing in Marquette, Michigan. My friend took a vacation to the UP, and I asked him if he could bring back some Michigan beer for me. With the help of the good BAs from Michigan, I was directed to Ore Dock, and this beer. It is delicious. The nose was a bit weak, but the flavor made up for it.

    My Review of it

    4.02/5 rDev +2%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

Pours a beautiful golden color. Fairly murky. Thick, frothy head. Lots of carbonation in the beer. There isn't a lot of nose to this beer. There's some of the wheat aroma to it, but it's muted. The beer tastes like a standard wheat beer. The banana fee is present. You get some of the carbonation in the feel also. Delicious wheat beer, and I'd gladly have my friend get more the next time he's in the UP.

Admit it: You find the idea of a state control board meeting and saying, "Now, it's time to approve new alcoholic beverages for sale in the state of Washington," followed by a thunderous amount of bottle and cans of beer and wine being opened, amusing

Annnnd, now that Cannabis falls under their purview, it's probably even more of a baccanalian shit show.:grimacing::rolling_eyes::grinning:

Thanks, Jack! Believe it or don't, I grew up at 420 West Walnut Street, where, in my teens, every day was 4-20 Day! My mom wants me to inherit it, but I have no desire of inclination to move back there. The hope is to get elected as Mayor (f'rillz!) & use it as the City-run brothel. Smoking permitted & encouraged.

Happy NBS; hope everyone is have a terrific summer. I have been outside biking and walking this weekend as the heat and humidity let up. Not for long as it is going to be even worse this week...

Today's new beer is brought to me by Shorts and their zany creations. Freedom of 78 pours a clear golden orange color with a 2 finger white head. Aroma is of musty tropical fruit with a heavy does of pink guava. Some sweeter candied malts and honey mingle. Flavor is highlighted with the guava, along with some pineapple and grapefruit. It is not as sweet as the aroma would indicate, but the malts help balance the hops and fruit well. Well carbonated and light feel with a clean refreshing finish. Enjoyable, but not something I would want to drink over and over.

From Neshaminy Creek brewing The Shape of Hops to Come. This is an Imperial India Pale Ale coming in at 9.5 ABV no IBU number given or needed this is a hop bomb. Brewed with Apollo, Newport, Simcoe, Topaz and Citra hops the aroma is strong as soon as you open the 16oz can. Orange color with a nice white head it looks good in large white wine glass. The aroma is very strong and contains every scent you. The taste is hops, hops and more hops. I'm not a hop head so I won't be buying that again. If you are a hop head pick up a case.

Well, I've met a couple of folks who have served on that board over the years, they are a bunch of tight-asses. Now, if @NWer , @draheim , @cavedave , @utopiajane and I were on the board, it would probably be a bit looser. Until, of course, The One Who "Remains Sick" showed up with his mule friends.

Good day NBS afficianados! I started my day with a trip to Chicago to assist some local runners participating in the Rock and Roll 10k. I sat out as I'm strictly competing in the 5k's these days and that one ran yesterday.:slight_frown: Thankfully my crew finished and was off the course before a storm rolled in and suspended the race for a while. We hit Hash House A Go Go afterwards for breakfast and decided to hit up Half Acre now. Let's see what's new on tap?

Going with a beer they released on Friday called Rainbow Never Ends IIPA. It's a collaboration with Other Half Brewing and weighs in at 8.5%. Here we go!

A pint glass that is a turbid gold with a small finger of off white foam. The smell is pineapple, passionfruit mango and a little malt in back. Flavor starts very floral in nature and quickly turns citric with grapefruit, passionfruit and something guava-like. The feel begins resiny slick but quickly turns bitter and quite acidic.

While tropical and juicy, there is an acidity in the feel that burns the palate and throat like grapefruit juice. It starts to get a bit overwhelming as I approach the final sips. I'm glad I got a chance to try, but I'm not feeling sad about the bottles being sold out. My score was 4.08 / rDev -5.6%.

Off to their store to see what beer they have to go and pick up my keg of Vallejo. A great day all around. Here's a couple pics of the Sage Chicken Benedict at Hash House and the finish line of the race.

Have yourself a great day! The official scorecard......
