TG isn't really leaving that much money on the table.
I don't think anyone is saying they should charge full secondary value ($500-$1000). So maybe we take the high end of the guesstimates here and say they charge $200. I for one think it would still sell out in a day but how many bottles have they made, ever? It's <1000 between all the releases right? And they surely wouldn't have gotten nearly that price per bottle until a year or two ago. So maybe they could have made an extra 10-20k over both releases over the course of a few years? Not much to a brewery that's likely spending tens of millions on a new production facility. I don't see it. Breweries will never make a ton of cash on their small volume specialty releases. I would probably be one of the customers who spent a lot less on their beers if they made an obvious cash grab (and no, the MD release doesn't even remotely qualify as that).

Not to mention, that literally eliminates 90% of people who can even afford the beer. How does that rectify anything?

Per Twitter, BA Turmoil release "by Friday" - one chalice per person limit, should last awhile per other tweets.

I'd like to open other TG BA offerings Friday or Saturday at TG for a share, so if anyone is sitting on a bottle and would be interested in participating, shoot me a message. (I can bring MD or Assassin.)

I'm not a tweeter...any information on what BA Turmoil is? Stout? Adjuncts? Type of barrel? Length in barrel?

All I've seen is 12 whiskey barrels, sounds like they were difficult to work with.

The tweet was a little hard to read, but I don't think "12" referred to the number of barrels, but to the ABV of the beer. I wonder if a barrel started leaking so they just decided to keg it up.

The tweet he was responding to:

@TGBrews any details on barrel type? ABV? Why it's called turmoil? Price?

    And his response:

Whiskey barrel, 12, gave us fits, too much to ask.

Hmmm, I believe this to be true. ^^

I believe this is untrue. ^^ Not trying to stir sh!t, but I have to wonder what you're trying to accomplish by lying? Calls into question your reviews and motivations. Either someone married to the TG social marketing director (or some similar title) is incorrectly claiming to be @Bobandy (seems highly unlikely) or you're lying now (seems more likely). Not a big deal really, but curious why the subterfuge.

Just saw post it should last a while, that's why I assumed 12 barrels.

Yeah, I was a little confused by that, but I imagine the 1 chalice limit will help in a couple of ways. First, they will obviously sell less with a limit, but they will probably also get fewer people driving in for 1 chalice of a beer without any history.

I'd love to see them do on-site consumption only of the whales (KBBS, SR-71, Assassin). That'd make them last quite awhile and virtually eliminate inflated resale and mules. I'm sure there would be people that would travel long distances to get those. Maybe with the new taproom?.....

Quite honestly, it's probably the only way I'll ever get to try any of those three and I live a couple hours from Decorah.

MD isn't barrel aged and is not hard to get if you make any effort at all.

Could be a barrel of assassin that started leaking then or KBBS or the like!

I know there's a different user who's wife works in the taproom,

Either way, Turmoil is an interesting name.

It's definitely a cool name - TG generally does pretty well with the naming/branding stuff by my estimation. Penguin aside.

Does the other guy also claim not to have any connections to the company too?

TG just changed the name to Term Oil... guessing due to another beer of the same name by some place called Barley Brown's Beer.

Assassin and SR-71 were even easier to get than MD though (no need to win a lottery or whatever just come in (for a week) and buy them.

KBBS too but I didn't want to make a 10 hour drive for 1 12 oz bottle.
